An assembly including a door panel, a window regulator housing component, and a window regulator drive system component. The door panel is secured to the window regulator housing component by a deformed portion to provide a subassembly. The deformed portion is utilized to releaseably secure the window regulator drive system component to the subassembly via a fourth component.

Assembly

A vehicle bodywork component intended in particular for automotive construction is formed in the manner of a sandwich having an outer layer made from a synthetic sheet or an aluminum sheet and an inner synthetic layer, which is applied by foaming to the outer layer. The outer layer may be formed from a plurality of pieces of different colors. These may abut directly against one another. In another example, a trim or cover strip is between the pieces, which are fixedly connected to one another by the foam applied against them. The trim or cover strip may have a web-like projection which is partly enclosed in foam when the synthetic layer is applied by foaming, in order to secure the trim or cover strip in place.

Vehicle bodywork component

An assembly includes a first, second and third components having respective first, second and third holes. The assembly further includes a locating feature assembled into the holes having a small portion and a large portion that provide a shoulder therebetween. The locating feature further includes a fixing portion near the small portion to secure the second component relative to the assembly and a fixing portion near the large portion to secure the third component relative to the assembly. The small portion is located in the second hole to align the locating feature relative to the second component, and the large portion is located in the third hole to align the locating feature relative to the third component. The second component is aligned relative to the third component, and the first component is situated between the second and third components and between the shoulder and the second component.

Assembly for attaching a window regulator motor to a window regulator mechanism through a door panel

A system for controlling multiple vehicle includes a twelve volt (12V)/forty-two volt (42V) battery power distribution system that provides direct current. The system converts single phase alternating current to multiple phase alternating current to simultaneously power multiple vehicle systems. A single pulse width modulation generator converts the direct current from the 12V/42V battery power distribution system to alternating current. This provides one power supply path of alternating current, which has a first phase. A splitter device splits the one power supply path of alternating current into three power paths. A lead/lag circuit is used to shift the alternating current of the second path to a second phase different than the first phase of the first power supply path. A second lead/lag circuit for shifts the alternating current of the third path to a third phase different than the first phase or the second phase. This creates a three-phase alternating current power from a single direct current source. The three-phase alternating current is used to power a plurality of induction motors that operate multiple vehicle systems.

Conversion of single phase to multiple phase alternating current

An assembly including a first, second and third component and a first and second fixing member, the first, second and third component having respective first, second and third holes, the first hole being a threaded hole, in which the first fixing member cooperates with the second hole and a first threaded portion of the first fixing member engaging the first hole to secure the first component to the second component, the first and second fixing member cooperating with the third hole with the first fixing member engaging the second fixing member to secure the third component to the first component, in which the first component is situated between the second and third component.

Door panel assembly

A vehicle door includes a window regulator motor and an inner panel. The window regulator motor further includes a connector housing which houses electrical connector terminals. The connector housing is sealed against the inner panel of the vehicle door via a diaphragm seal.

A housing structure for a mobile element, such as a regulator drum, includes a dish that covers the housing and a backing plate with an opening large enough to accommodate the mobile element and one or more pliable tongues extending into the opening. The tongues hold the mobile element in the housing while still allowing the element to be removed without dismantling the housing or the element.

An active window seal assembly is disclosed that operatively engages a movable window when the window is stationary and disengages the window when the window is in motion. The seal assembly comprises a stationary frame, a movable lip that is operatively connected to the stationary frame, and a cavity disposed between the stationary frame and the movable lip. Several configurations provide for movement of the movable lip when the movable window is in motion. The first configuration allows the cavity to inflate with air, thus forcing the movable lip away from the window. A second configuration provides that the air in the cavity be evacuated, thus pulling the movable lip away from the window. A third configuration provides that a voltage be applied to the stationary frame and the movable lip to create an electric field. The electric field draws the movable lip toward the stationary frame and away from the movable window.

Active window seal

A door panel assembly includes a panel with a window regulator mounted on one side and a power mechanism mounted on an opposite side. The panel has a first alignment feature for aligning the window regulator relative to the panel and a second alignment feature for aligning the power mechanism relative to the panel. The first and second alignment features facilitate alignment of the window regulator and the power mechanism to each other. Further, the first and second alignment features allow initial assembly of one of the window regulator or power mechanism components to the panel with a subsequent assembly of the remaining component to the panel without having to hold the first component in place.

An AC motor is utilized to drive a closure on a vehicle. The use of the AC motor provides valuable benefits with regard to cost and size. Further, a three-phase AC motor may be utilized, and the pulses in its power supply monitored to determine an obstruction in the path of the closure. Frequency control may also be utilized to provide optimum control of the drive of the component at both start-up and stop.

A system assembles an apparatus for activating a window on a fixed support. The apparatus includes a drum housing drum cover which has a cover body which is capable of being secured on the fixed support by a first securing member. The cover body includes lugs which block the drum in the drum cover. The system further includes a motor assembly for driving the drum in rotation. The motor assembly includes a principle body which is capable of being secured on the cover body by a second securing member.

System for assembling two components of a window regulator activation device on a support

A reconfigurable intermediate panel provides the capability of reconfiguring the interior space of a vehicle. A first panel portion is moveable in the vehicle between various locations. A second panel portion is supported for movement with the first panel portion and for movement relative to the first panel portion. By selectively extending the second panel portion relative to the first panel portion, the vehicle interior space may be selectively divided and provides isolated vehicle compartments.

Reconfigurable intermediate panel for use in a vehicle

An apparatus for controlling multiple vehicle systems includes a single power supply that provides a direct current source. The power supply is comprised of a thirty-six volt (36 V) battery power distribution system. A converter is electrically connected to the power supply to convert direct current to alternating current. A plurality of induction motors are used to operate various vehicle systems. The motors receive alternating current via electrical connections between the converter and the motors. A central processor is connected to relays sending power to each of the motors and provides control signals to the motors based on input from control members used to activate each of the various vehicle systems. At least one sensor is associated with each of the motors to monitor voltage or current of the respective motor and to generate a diagnostic signal that is sent to the processor. The processor generates a warning signal when any of the diagnostic signals indicates that voltage within the respective motor is outside a predetermined range. A piezoelectric material is associated with each of the motors to provide an internal control signal for the motor. The piezoelectric material can be used to control acceleration or deceleration of the motor based on the rotational force of a rotor within the motor or can be use to activate an auxiliary winding in the motor based on mechanical input to the respective controller.

Control system for an electric motor

A plurality of motors for use in driving accessories on a vehicle, are each powered by three-phase current. A single controller controls the supply three-phase current to the plurality of motors. In another aspect of the invention, pseudothree-phase current is created from a direct current voltage source. A chopping circuit chops the voltage into a plurality of pulses, and a phase shift circuit then creates phase-shifted power signals from those pulses. The present invention thus enables the use of three-phase alternating current motors on a vehicle to drive accessories. This reduces the cost and size of the required motors.

Controls to incorporate three-phase motors into vehicles

A cargo supporting device supports cargo within a vehicle compartment in more than one position. The cargo supporting device includes at least one moveable panel having a cargo supporting surface. The moveable panel moves from a first position that is relatively distant from a cargo access point to a second position that is closer to the cargo access point. The moveable panel effectively brings one or more cargo items closer to an individual to make them more readily accessible.
