A formable multilayer reflective polymeric body which has a substantially uniform broad bandwidth reflectance over substantially the entire range of the visible spectrum to provide a substantially uniform reflective appearance is provided. The body includes at least first and second diverse polymeric materials, the body comprising a sufficient number of alternating layers of the first and second polymeric materials such that at least 40% of visible light incident on the body is reflected. A substantial majority of the individual layers of the body have optical thicknesses in the range where the sum of the optical thicknesses in a repeating unit of the polymeric materials is greater than about 190 nm, and the first and second polymeric materials differ from each other in refractive index by at least about 0.03.

Formable reflective multilayer body

The present invention provides a two-component infrared reflecting film which reflects light in the infrared region of the spectrum while suppressing second, third and fourth order reflections in the visible spectrum. The film comprises alternating layers of first (A) and second (B) diverse polymeric materials having a six layer alternating repeat unit with relative optical thicknesses of about .778A.111B.111A.778B.111A.111B. The polymeric materials differ from each other in refractive index by at least about 0.03.

Dispersions of polymers and optional dispersion stabilizers in a polyepoxide resin continuous phase is characterized in that the dispersion remains stable above 60.degree. C. The compositions are curable and are useful as coatings, in preparing laminates and reinforced plastics, and as adhesives. The compositions exhibit properties which are superior to compositions containing reactive liquid polymers.

Stable dispersions of polymers in polyepoxides

Epoxy resins contain a discontinuous phase dispersed therein, of grafted rubber particles having an insoluble rubber core and having a grafted shell containing a functionalized compound such as that provided by polymerized glycidyl methacrylate, which is reactive under curing conditions with a functionality of the epoxy resin phase. The dispersions are stable and are useful as curable coatings, and for providing toughened resins for structural applications.

Rubber-modified epoxy compounds

The specification discloses a polymer blend comprising 25 to 35% rubber dispersed in a laminar, network fashion in a rigid polymer phase. This is achieved by using a low molecular weight elastomer (70,000 to 100,000 weight average molecular weight) having 25 to 44% styrene and a melt flow rate of 8 to 15 grams per 10 minutes. This polymer blend is especially adapted for injection molding and products injection molded therefrom have a high gloss and excellent strength and toughness. The polymer blend is especially suited for injection molding and yields a high gloss, strong injection molded product.

High gloss, impact resistant polymer resins for injection molding

Impact styrene polymers, prepared in stratified polymerizers wherein one polymerizing zone is recirculated and a solvent is employed, can have improved environmental stress crack resistance when an aliphatic hydrocarbon is utilized as solvent rather than an aromatic or cycloaliphatic solvent.
