An obstruction lighting system includes a disc having a generally planar surface. A plurality of light emitting diodes are mounted to the planar surface of the disc, a central light emitting axis of the light emitting diodes being oriented generally perpendicularly away from the planar surface. A reflector is coupled to the disc, the reflector having an outer surface in the shape of a rotated conic section, the reflector further including a projecting portion. The outer surface of the reflector has an optical axis generally perpendicular to the central light emitting axis of the light emitting diodes. Furthermore, the projecting portion of the reflector blocks light emissions from the light emitting diodes in an upwardly direction from the obstruction lighting system. The disc and a lens retainer may be configured to block light emitted by the light emitting diodes from traveling in a downwardly direction from the obstruction lighting system.

Obstruction lighting system

A lighting system having a reflector with a plurality of reflecting surfaces. The plurality of reflecting surfaces have at least one optical axis, and the reflecting surfaces further include a linearly projected cross-section along a respective linear axis. A plurality of light emitting diodes (LEDs) are positioned in a line generally parallel to the linearly projected cross-section of the plurality of reflecting surfaces. The LEDs are oriented relative to an associated reflecting surface such that a central light-emitting axis of the plurality of LEDs is angled relative to the at least one optical axis of the associated reflecting surface at about 45&#xb0;. The reflecting surfaces redirect and collimate a light output of the plurality of LEDs at an angle of about 45&#xb0; with respect to the central light emitting axis of the plurality of LEDs.

Lighting system

An LED lighting system has an LED circuit that includes a first LED having an anode and a cathode, and a second LED having an anode and a cathode. The anode of the second LED is electrically coupled to the cathode of the first LED, and the cathode of the second LED is electrically coupled to the anode of the first LED. The first and second LEDs are in an inverse-parallel arrangement, the first LED acting as a reverse-voltage clamp for the second LED and the second LED acting as a reverse-voltage clamp for the first LED.

LED lighting system

Flashing lights powered by a common wild frequency power source () are synchronized with respect to flash rate and duration. Each lighthead includes a power supply device (), which includes a timing signal generator () and a synchronization device (). The timing signal generator () includes a precision clock (), which generates a timing signal to regulate the flashing operation of the corresponding light. The synchronization device recurrently causes the timing signal to be reset in accordance with the wild frequency power source signal. By recurrently resetting the timing signal of each light according to a common wild frequency source, the flashing of the lights can be synchronized without transferring synchronization signals between the lights.

A multi-mode visible and infrared lighthead () for use as a landing light or searchlight. The multi-mode lighthead incorporates a modular design wherein at least one visible light source () and at least one infrared diode () are mounted into the rear sector () of a housing (). Visible or infrared light is emitted out of the front sector () of the housing (). Lenses () are installed onto the front sector () of the housing () and sealed to protect the interior of the lighthead () from the elements. Alternatively, and in combination, an imaging module (), and infrared laser () and/or a fixed-position searchlight with rangefinder and positioning capability is provided in the multi-mode lighthead().

Multi-mode searchlight

A method is described in which load current present in a thyristor device may be detected by monitoring the characteristic voltage found on the gate of the thyristor. Load status information may be used in various ways such as, to turn off the output, to signal a load voltage, or to act as a lamp-fail reset on an aircraft passenger reading light.

Thyristor load detector

An electronic touch control light socket used to convert a lamp to touch-sensitive use which includes a circuit housing and a light bulb insertion socket mounted thereto which together are adapted for installation within a standard light socket shell of a lamp in place of a standard light socket. A touch sensing circuit in the circuit housing has a self-compensating subcircuit to eliminate the effects of slower changing ambient capacitance of the lamp in order to detect touching of the lamp by monitoring rapid changes in lamp capacitance. A spring contact connected to the circuit is attached to the circuit housing and projects along a side thereof for placement between the circuit housing exterior and the interior surface of the light socket shell and in electrical contact with a conductive portion of the light socket shell when the circuit housing and insertion socket are installed within the light socket shell. The spring contact thereby is inaccessible from the exterior of the lamp and is adapted to convey to the circuit an electrical touch-responsive input signal generated when a person touches a conductive exterior portion of the lamp connected to the conductive portion of the light socket shell. The circuit has an operating mode control subcircuit actuatable by a manually-operable control knob for selecting the operating mode of the circuit, e.g. ON/OFF, 4-Level, or 5-Level dimmer sequences.
