Methods, systems and apparatus for enabling function identification to allow an end-user verify that a identified function is a desired function prior to activation or implementation thereof. A signal is sent from an initiating control to a receiver for identifying a particular function associated with the initiating control. An end-user is notified of this identified function and determines if the identified function is a desired function prior to activation thereof. If it is the desired function, the end-user may actuating a control associated with the initiating control to activate the function. If it is not the desired function, the end-user may stop the process or select another initiating control for repeating the process.

Remote identification and verification of a function prior to use thereof

A wireless foot control system includes a receiver and at least one transmitter. The transmitter includes a medium generator for emitting a communication medium, a power supply and at least one foot pedal. The power supply includes a power source, a capacitor bank having a discharge current capacity sufficient to power the medium generator, and a current limiter. The current limiter connects the power source to the capacitor bank, charging the capacitor bank from the power source over a period of time. The foot pedal selectively energizes the medium generator from the capacitor bank. The receiver includes a medium collector for collecting the emitted medium and an electronic circuit. The electronic circuit includes a converter for converting the collected medium to an input control signal and a microprocessor in communication with the converter, the microprocessor having an operating system for generating an output control signal commensurate with the input control signal.

Uterine activity monitor and method of the same

A multi-transducer Doppler ultrasound monitor system is disclosed in which a multiplexed switch is interposed between the ultrasound transducers and a single transmitter and receiver of the type utilized used to drive a single transducer and to process the signal produced by that transducer, respectively. This switch has a plurality of inputs, each of which receives a connection to one of the transducers, and a single output which is connected to the transmitter and receiver, and it is effective to connect each input, in sequence, to the output on a time-shared basis. A track & hold circuit is provided at the output of a demodulator following the receiver. This circuit has a single input and a plurality of outputs, each corresponding to one of the multiplex switch inputs. The track & hold circuit distributes the signal at the output of the demodulator in sequence to each of the circuit outputs. In this manner, a single set of electronics can be utilized for a plurality of transducers.

Doppler ultrasound monitor system

For controlling the firing of an electroacoustic transducer used in providing an ultrasound image of a fetus under examination, a programmable digital delay circuit includes a clock generator whose output is supplied to a delay line so as to provide a plurality of waveforms shifted in time from one another and from the waveform generated by the clock generator. Depending on the delay desired prior to firing the transducer, one of the five waveforms may be not be inverted and thereafter used for triggering a counter whose output switches logic gates for enabling a buffer and pulse shaper to fire the transducer.

Digital delay circuit

An ultrasonic imaging apparatus is disclosed having a display selectably interchangeable between a shades of gray image presentation and an edge enhanced image presentation to facilitate distance measurements of the image on the display screen. A first filter network processes echo responsive electrical signals for preserving echo amplitude information in a shades of gray image presentation and a second filter network processes the echo responsive electric signals for enhancing only the leading edge of the electrical signals.

Ultrasonic imaging apparatus

An ultrasonic pulse echo real time imaging system comprises a segmented transducer array formed by a plurality of juxtaposed transducer elements. Successive scans are performed by forming a first predetermined quantity of juxtaposed elements and incrementally shifting said first quantity along said array and subsequently shifting a second quantity of elements along the array, said first and said second quantity being different, for example four and three elements respectively. If the respective quantities are shifted incrementally by one element, the beam axis is stepped by one-half element width only, thereby providing improved image resolution. The image presentation on a cathode ray tube makes use of the interlacing feature, specifically the B-scan presentation line raster responsive to alternate array scans is interlaced.

Real-time ultrasonic imaging system

Apparatus and a method for determining the onset of an interarterial blood pressure pulse and measuring the time delay preceding the onset from the corresponding electrical heartbeart triggering signal wherein the blood pressure pulse is converted to an electrical input signal which is split into two identical components, one being delayed in time, inverted and amplified after which it is added to the other. A timer measures the duration between the electrical heartbeat actuating signal and the point at which the sum of the blood pressure component signals reaches a peak and subtracts from that result the time delay applied to the one component to yield the electromechanical interval between the electrical heartbeat signal and onset of the blood pressure pulse.
