A medical introducer sheath comprises a tubular shaft and an ultrasonic transducer array. The tubular shaft has a proximal end, a distal end opposite the proximal end, an inner surface, and an outer surface. The shaft defines a longitudinal axis extending between the proximal end and the distal end. The inner surface and the outer surface define a wall having a shaft wall thickness, the wall defining a distal wall face proximate the distal end of the shaft extending at an oblique angle relative to the longitudinal axis. The ultrasonic transducer array includes a plurality of ultrasound transducers disposed within the wall of the tubular shaft at the distal end thereof. The ultrasound transducers include an emitting/receiving surface generally aligned with the distal wall face, such that ultrasonic energy emitted from each of the ultrasound transducers is oriented directed generally at an oblique angle relative to the longitudinal axis.

Introducer sheath with imaging capability

Various aspects of the present disclosure are directed toward apparatuses, systems, and methods that include a housing; a catheter shaft and an actuator coupled to the catheter shaft and configured to move longitudinally relative to the housing and longitudinally move the catheter shaft in response to force imparted by a user. The apparatuses, systems, and methods may also include a piston assembly arranged within the housing and configured to receive the actuator and allow longitudinal movement of the actuator relative to the housing.

The present disclosure relates to the field of tissue mapping and ablation. Specifically, the present disclosure relates to expandable medical devices for identifying and treating local anatomical abnormalities within a body lumen. More specifically, the present disclosure relates to systems and methods of focal treatment for overactive bladders.

Steerable tissue mapping and ablation device

In one aspect, the present disclosure is directed to a method for identifying a site with a patient for treatment. The method may include engaging a plurality electrodes with an interior wall of the patient at a plurality of locations. The method may also generating a virtual map of a plurality of electrodes, wherein each of the plurality of electrodes is displayed with a first indicia. The method may also include displaying each of the plurality of electrodes engaged with the interior wall with a second indicia, measuring electrical activity, identifying at least one site for treatment based on the measured resulting electrical activity, and displaying each of the plurality of electrodes identified for treatment with a third indicia.

Medical device and related methods

An electrophysiology catheter, e.g., a coronary sinus catheter, for insertion into a cardiac vessel, such as the coronary sinus, includes a handle and a catheter shaft coupled at one end to the handle. The catheter shaft has a distal end and an anchor is associated with the catheter shaft and is movable between a deployed position and a collapsed position. In the deployed position, the anchor extends radially outward from an outer surface of the catheter shaft for contacting a wall and temporarily anchoring the catheter shaft within the coronary sinus. The catheter also includes an actuator for causing deployment and collapsing of the anchor upon manipulation of the actuator.

Means for securing a catheter into a vessel

The present invention encompasses apparatus and methods for mapping electrical activity within the heart. The present invention also encompasses methods and apparatus for creating lesions in the heart tissue (ablating) to create a region of necrotic tissue which serves to disable the propagation of errant electrical impulses caused by an arrhythmia.

Electrophysiology catheter for mapping and/or ablation

Embodiments described herein relate to methods of using a catheter having a braided conductive member. One embodiment relates to a method for treating a condition of a patient that involves contacting an exterior wall of a blood vessel with the braided conductive member. Another embodiment relates to a method that involves contacting a wall of a blood vessel with the braided conductive member and controlling energy delivery to the braided conductive member based on at least one sensed temperature.

Methods of using a catheter having a braided conductive member

Apparatus for irrigating an electrode of a catheter are disclosed. Among other things, a catheter is disclosed that comprises a shaft portion including a fluid passage to conduct fluid, an electrode coupled to a distal end of the shaft portion, and a handle portion coupled to a proximal end of the shaft portion. A portion of the fluid passage defines an opening in the shaft portion. The opening is constructed and arranged such that when fluid is conducted through the fluid passage, at least some of the fluid will contact the electrode after passing through the opening in the shaft portion.

Irrigated catheter

Methods and apparatuses for manipulating an elongated flexible shaft of a catheter provide ease and reliability of positioning electrodes against or near tissue. Dual-bend flexible distal tips may be used in combination with flat wires. In some embodiments, flat wires which are free to rotate upon initial bending of shaft segments are employed. In some embodiments, one or more transition segments are used to relocate the satellite lumen-to-main lumen transition of pull wires away from a change in shaft stiffness.

Articulated catheter

An electrophysiology catheter and method of use for mapping and ablation procedures. The catheter includes a braided conductive member at its distal end that can be radially expanded. The catheter can be used in endocardial and epicardial mapping and ablation procedures.

A handle for use with a catheter, the handle including a housing, a cable, and a guide. The housing has a proximal end, a distal end, and a longitudinal axis that extends from the proximal end of the housing to the distal end of the housing. The cable is disposed in the housing and extends through the proximal end of the housing. A portion of the cable that is disposed in the housing is movable, under compression, in a first direction that is substantially aligned with the longitudinal axis of the housing. The guide is disposed in the housing and is adapted to prevent the portion of the cable from moving in a second direction that is transverse to the first direction when the portion of the cable is moved in the first direction. The handle is suitable for use with an electrophysiology catheter having an elongated shaft.
