A method and system are provided for searching a search query having a non-character-based input. The method comprises receiving the search query comprising a first part and a second part. The first part comprises a non-character-based input. The method further comprises identifying a first plurality of keywords associated with the non-character-based input and receiving a selection of at least one of the first plurality of keywords. The method further comprises generating a modified search query comprising the at least one selected keyword and the second part. The method further comprises retrieving search results based on the modified search query and generating for presentation the search results.

Systems and methods are provided for enabling a smart automatic skip mode during playback of a content item. A content item is generated for output at a first time at a computing device, and input associated with navigating the content item is received. Metadata associated with a plurality of segments of the content item is identified and, based on the input and the metadata, a segment to skip is identified. The segment to skip is skipped, and the content item is generated for output at a second time.

Systems and methods are provided for customizing the playback speed of a media player. One example method includes receiving a media content item and identifying a playback speed for at least a portion of the media content item. An adjustable playback speed user interface element is generated for display, wherein the user interface element is preset to the identified playback speed. The playback speed user interface element is adjustable in that at least a portion of the playback speed user interface element is movable from a first position to a second position. An interaction with the adjustable playback speed user interface element is identified and the portion of the media content item is generated for output at the identified playback speed.

Systems and methods for customizing media player playback speed

Systems and methods are provided for adjusting a playback position of a media asset at a computing device. One example method includes receiving the media asset comprising a video and/or an audio component and outputting the video and/or audio component of the media asset at a first playback position at the computing device. A seek bar control is initiated and, in response to initiating the seek bar control, a grid is generated at the computing device. A user action for adjusting the playback position of the media asset is detected. The detecting the user action comprises determining a first location on the grid corresponding to a first playback position and determining a second playback position by determining that the user action has ended at a second location on the grid corresponding to the second playback position. The media asset is outputted at the second playback position.

Customized seek bar

Systems and methods for replaying a portion of a content item based on the user's language proficiency level in a secondary language is disclosed. The system accesses a user profile comprising a user's proficiency level in at least one secondary language, the secondary language being their non-native language. A command to replay a first portion of a content item is received and, in response to receiving the replay command, the system generates for display the first portion of the content item at a level below the user's proficiency level in the secondary language.

Systems and methods are provided for customizing user interface controls around a cursor. One example method includes receiving, at a computing device, a request to display an indicator menu and identifying at least one user interface element of a program being executed at the computing device. An interaction frequency for each identified user interface element is generated. In response to the request and for each identified user interface element, a spatial relationship between an indicator of the computing device and the identified user interface element is determined. Based on the interaction frequency value and the determined spatial relationship, an element set comprising one or more of the identified user interface elements is generated. The indicator menu comprising at least a portion of the element set is generated for display. The indicator menu is displayed proximate the indicator on a display of the computing device.

Methods and systems for navigating content are provided. A method includes detecting an input to perform a content navigation operation in a display interface, the input designating a two-dimensional path in a content display interface. The method determines a forward or reverse direction for the content navigation operation and receives an input indicating the two-dimensional path within the content display interface. The length of the path is determined and the content is navigated based upon the determined direction and length of the two-dimensional path. A system comprising input circuitry configured to detect an input to perform a content navigation operation on a content, and a control circuitry programmed and configured for implementing the method is also provided.

Systems and methods are provided for generating personalized messages. One example method includes identifying a media item at a first computing device and identifying a group of one or more recipients to send the media item and a personalized message to. An association between a user of the computing device and a recipient from the group is identified. A personalized message is generated based at least in part on the association between the user and the recipient. The media item and personalized message are sent to the recipient from the first computing device.

Systems and methods are provided for recommending and dynamically scheduling content. A time when a request to consume a content item is likely to be received is identified and an identifier of the content item is displayed on a device. Methods and systems for dynamically navigating content are provided. Media content is generated for display on a user device. A selectable indicator for incrementally skipping through the media content is also generated. Each navigation setting is associated with a navigation interval within the content. An input of the selection of the navigation setting and the navigation interval is received. Systems and methods for generating a reply to a query are provided. A query about an event in a content recording during playback of the content recording is received. A type of the event based on the query is determined. A playback position in a timeline of the content recording is determined. Based on the type of the event, an event distribution table is obtained, the table comprising one or more event identifiers and one or more corresponding occurrence times for the one or more event identifiers in the timeline of the content recording. The playback position of the content recording to the one or more occurrence times is compared. A reply to the query is generated, for aural or visual presentation, the reply being based on a result of the comparing, the reply comprising data about at least one event corresponding to the one or more event identifiers.

For instance, a notification may be generated for a user account corresponding to an application that is installed on a plurality of devices. Systems and methods for providing personalized actionable items for content items

Systems and methods are described for providing subtitles for a media content item. Subtitles are obtained, using control circuitry, for the media content item. Control circuitry determines whether a character component of the subtitles should be replaced by an image component. In response to determining that the character component of the subtitles should be replaced by an image component, control circuitry selects, from memory, an image component corresponding to the character component. Control circuitry replaces the character component of the subtitles by the image component to generate modified subtitles.
