A cellular mobile station including a modem processor and memory. The memory includes instructions for the modem processor to perform layerprocessor operations, layerprocessor operations, and layerprocessor operations. The modem processor executes the instructions to perform processor operations for the cellular mobile station to communication data as per a cellular communications protocol. In one example, the mobile station includes different levels of memory to provide different deterministic access times.

Cellular modem processing

An audio processor () receives a non-priority audio signal () and a priority audio signal (). The priority audio signal occupies a frequency band (). The audio processor filters () the non-priority audio signal by suppressing frequency content in the same frequency region occupied by the priority signal, creating a filtered non-priority signal (). The filtered non-priority signal and the priority signal are combined () and played over an audio transducer ().

Method and apparatus for mixing priority and non-priority audio signals

A radio communication device has a baseband processor acting as an InterProcessor Communication (IPC) server and an application processor acting as an IPC client. The baseband processor and the application processor communicate with each other via an IPC network. The IPC server and the IPC client can switch functions via negotiation to allow the IPC client to become the new IPC server. The IPC network includes multiple IPC clients, and remaining IPC clients are instructed to change the IPC address of the IPC server if the IPC client becomes the new IPC server. The IPC network allows any processor that adopts the IPC as its interprocessor communication stack to co-exist together and operate as if the two were actually running on the same processor core sharing a common operating system and memory.

Interprocessor communication protocol

A cellular mobile station including a modem processor and memory. The memory includes instructions for the modem processor to perform layer 1 processor operations, layer 2 processor operations, and layer 3 processor operations. The modem processor executes the instructions to perform processor operations for the cellular mobile station to communication data as per a cellular communications protocol. In one example, the mobile station includes different levels of memory to provide different deterministic access times.

A multi-camp mobile communication device () includes a first radio modem () and a second radio modem (). Each modem is designed to communicate with a respective communication system (). Upon engaging in an interconnect call () over the first modem with the first communication system, the multi-camp mobile communication device receives a dispatch call at the second modem () from the second communication system. The multi-camp mobile communication device replies to the dispatch call with a pre-recorded message (). The dispatch calling party may respond to the pre-recorded message with a voice message that is recorded by the multi-camp mobile communication device ().

Method of operating a multi-camp mobile communication device while engaged in a call and receiving a dispatch call

Access noise in a spread spectrum communication system () is reduced by broadcasting a resource indicator message () from a base station () and is received by mobile stations () in the serving area () of the base station. The resource indicator message indicates which resources are supported () by the base station, as well as their present availability (). If a desired resource is not presently available (), mobile stations will avoid requesting access to that resource (). When the resource becomes available, access noise can be controlled by having mobile stations wait a randomly selected period of time ().

Method for reducing access noise in a spread spectrum communication system

The invention concerns a method () for employing adaptive event codes. The method includes the steps of generating () at least one adaptive event code in which the adaptive event code corresponds to a preexisting event code, storing () the adaptive event code in at least one table (), running () the table in which the adaptive event codes are at least initially disabled and enabling () the adaptive event code in response to a system event in which the preexisting event code that corresponds to the enabled adaptive event code is executed (). The method can further include the step of ignoring () the adaptive event codes during the running step when the adaptive event codes are disabled.

Method and system for employing adaptive event codes

An IPC protocol/network allows for dynamic dedication of ports in order to reduce system latencies and power consumption. The IPC system allows for either the IPC server or any of the IPC clients to request that a port(s) be dedicated for use in the transfer of data, such as real-time data. The request for a port can occur for example by a client transmitting a control message to the server/another client requesting that a particular port be dedicated for its use. The server and client(s) negotiate the port dedication and once dedicated, the client can use the dedicated port to transfer its data either to the server or to another client. In one embodiment, the server can take away a dedicated port if it determines it needs the port for another data transfer that may be more critical or have a higher priority.

Interprocessor communication network providing dynamic dedication of ports

A multiprocessor system () for sharing memory has a memory (), and two or more processors (). The processors are programmed to establish () memory buffer pools between the processors, and for each memory buffer pool, establish () an array of buffer pointers that point to corresponding memory buffers. The processors are further programmed to, for each array of buffer pointers, establish () a consumption pointer for the processor owning the memory buffer pool, and a release pointer for another processor sharing said memory buffer pool, each pointer initially pointing to a predetermined location of the array, and adjust (-) the consumption and release pointers according to buffers consumed and released.

Method and apparatus using buffer pools and arrays of buffer pointers for sharing memory in a multiprocessor system

An InterProcessor Communication (IPC) Protocol network () includes at least one IPC client () and an IPC server (). The IPC protocol allows for the IPC client () to register with the IPC server () which will provide the means for the two to communicate freely without any limitations on what software architectures, operating systems, hardware, etc. each depend on. The IPC protocol in one embodiment of the invention provides for dynamic IPC node configuration in a server based IPC communication management framework.

A portable communication device () can include a transceiver () and a processor () coupled to the transceiver. The processor can be programmed to monitor at least one neighboring cell among a plurality of cells for a load condition on the at least one neighboring cell, monitor the at least one neighboring cell for a service capability and discontinue the monitoring of the at least one neighboring cell if a desired service capability fails to match the service capability of the at least one neighboring cell or if the load condition fails to meet a predetermined load condition. The processor can be further programmed to monitor the at least one neighboring cell for a signal quality indication and to discontinue the monitoring of the at least one neighboring cell if the signal quality indication falls below a predetermined threshold.

Efficient system and method of monitoring neighboring cells in a communication system

A multiprocessor system () having a plurality of processors (-), each processor capable of processing at least one queue (A-N) of at least one service application, and at least one task (A-N) comprising at least one of the at least one queue; and wherein a first processor and a second processor of the plurality of processors is each programmed to delegate () a service application from the first processor to a queue of the at least one queue of the second processor, evaluate (-) the queue at the second processor according to flow control criteria, process () the service application at the second processor upon satisfying the flow control criteria, and reject () the service application at the second processor upon failing to satisfy the flow control criteria.

Method and system for efficient multiprocessor processing in a mobile wireless communication device

A method of communicating with a transceiver (). In one arrangement, the method of communicating with the transceiver can be performed in a systemless group environment. Synchronization information () can be received from a mobile transceiver () and used to synchronize to the mobile transceiver. The synchronization information can include a timing offset and a frequency offset. Synchronization can be maintained until a predetermined condition is met, for example, a predetermined amount of group inactivity.

Group call management through receive/transmit synchronization

An IPC protocol/network allows for intelligent targeting of nodes in order to reduce overhead and provide for improved power management. The IPC server keeps track of the IPC network's node activity and using an operational state table () it can determine which node can handle a service request (e.g., MP3 decode). By keeping track of the current operational condition of the nodes within the network, the processors can have better battery life and application latency can be improved. The IPC server will keep track not only of which nodes can handle which services, but it will also know which node can handle the service request given its knowledge of the operational state of each of the nodes.
