Provided are systems, compositions and methods that useful in any setting where generating and tracking light is used. The systems, methods and compositions contain as a component flexible, transparent membrane-based materials that include light emitting diodes (LEDs). The LEDs can include or be formed from colloidal quantum dots (CQDs) as an active layer. The CQDs can be formed from solution-processed semiconductor nanocrystals. They have a tunable band gap energy that can be readily tuned by adjusting the size of the nanocrystals. Transparent membrane-based LED arrays exhibit emission wavelength that can be tuned anywhere in the range of 800-2000 nm. The LEDs are highly transparent in the visible wavelength range with the exception of the CQD active layer. The CQD-based LEDs are components of any device or system wherein generating and/or tracking reflected light is utilized, such as in tracing the location and movement of a living individual, or an inanimate object. Also provided are garments used in movement tracking, and imaging devices, which include cameras and microscopes, and systems for volume capture, body motion tracking, eye tracking systems and devices, motion capture systems, simulcam technologies, computer generated characters, holograms, eye wear, such as glasses, goggles, and virtual reality headsets, and medical devices that involve imaging, such as devices that involve imaging of the eye for diagnosing and/or treating eye disorders.

Flexible transparent membrane light emitting diode array and systems containing the same

A computational sensing array includes an array of sensing elements. In each sensing element, a first signal is generated from a transducer. A second signal is produced by a collection unit in response to receiving the first signal. The second signal may be modified, in a conditioning unit. A sensing element preprocessing unit generates a word representing the value of the modified second signal, and may produce an indication of change of the first signal. A current value of the word may be stored in a state holding element local to the sensing element, and a previous value of the word may be retained in a further state holding element local to the sensing element.

Flexible readout and signal processing in a computational sensor array

A photodetection circuit includes an avalanche photodiode and a mode switching circuit that may be configured to selectively switch an operating mode of the photodetection circuit between linear mode and Geiger mode. The photodetection circuit may further include a quenching circuit configured to quench and reset the avalanche photodiode in response to an avalanche event when the photodetection circuit is operated in Geiger mode. The photodetection circuit may additionally include an integration circuit configured to integrate photocurrent output by the photodiode and generate integrated charge units when the photodetection circuit is operated in linear mode. The photodetection circuit may also include a counter configured to count pulses output by the avalanche photodiode when the photodetection circuit is operated in Geiger mode and to count integrated charge units generated by the integration circuit when the photodetection circuit is operated in linear mode.

A vehicle includes a head section having a selectively actuated first plurality of claws, a tail section having a selectively actuated second plurality of claws, and a linear actuator operably coupling the head section to the tail section. The linear actuator is configured to be selectively extended and retracted. The vehicle is configured to move forward within an enclosed space by extending the linear actuator, while the first plurality of claws is not actuated and the second plurality of claws is actuated, then retracting the linear actuator, while the first plurality of claws is actuated and the second plurality of claws is not actuated.

A scene measurement assembly includes a first illuminator assembly having multiple grids of coplanar illuminators, a first system-on-chip light sensing device having sensors disposed to receive reflected light emitted by the first illuminator assembly, a second illuminator assembly having plural grids of coplanar illuminators, each of the plural grids of coplanar illuminators being disposed in different planes relative to each other, and a second system-on-chip light sensing device that receives reflected light emitted by the second illuminator assembly. Each of the multiple grids of coplanar illuminators of both illuminator assemblies is disposed in different planes relative to each other. The first and second system-on-chip light sensing devices each have a sampling rate of greater than 10,000 frames per second relative to performing on-chip image data processing. The system-on-chip light sensing devices are each disposed at a scene to be measured at locations having different perspectives of the scene.
