Systems and methods for reducing processing resources required for configuration updates in a network device by segregating configuration updates into a first set of direct updates and a second set of updates that require CLI commands. The first set of updates are to vendor-neutral configuration objects that are isomorphically mapped to corresponding native configuration objects. The second set of updates are to vendor-neutral configuration objects that are not isomorphically mapped to corresponding native configuration objects. The first set of updates is forwarded to a configuration agent, which applies them to the configuration stored in the system database. CLI commands that are generated for the second set of updates are forwarded to the configuration agent, which parses them and applies corresponding updates to the system database. The system database confirms successful updates to a configuration module which then updates its own vendor-neutral configuration information.

Achieving consistency in overlay data models transactions with a network device

Techniques for operating a networking switch in two broadcast networks are provided. In some embodiments, the switch may instantiate a first controller client and a second controller client in a control plane of the switch; register the first controller client with a first broadcast controller associated with a first broadcast network; and register the second controller client with a second broadcast controller associated with a second broadcast network. The switch may further receive a first multicast route through the first controller client; receive a second multicast route through the second controller client; and program at least one of the first multicast route and the second multicast route into a multicast routing information base.

Security policies are translated into access-control list entries and can be stored by switches in the computer network. When a new device is connected to the computer network, the device may be resolved to the group for which it is a member and an ACL entry may be created for the new device. In networks having redundant switches, the ACL entries may be stored by each redundant network switch.

A method includes receiving a single request to configure a continuous route tracer (CRT) between a first plurality of network devices and a second plurality of network devices and configuring, by a processing device of a control server, the CRT between the first plurality of network devices and the second plurality of network devices. The method further includes receiving a plurality of probe reports corresponding to a plurality of CRT probes sent between the first plurality of network devices and the second plurality of network devices and analyzing the reports to detect one or more anomalies corresponding to a network comprising the first plurality of network devices and the second plurality of network devices. The method further includes providing the one or more anomalies for display.
