A sonication cleaning system is provided. The sonication cleaning system includes a cleaning tank configured to contain a liquid and a flow control system configured to cause a gradient cross flow of the liquid through the cleaning tank. The system further includes a sonication generator configured to agitate the liquid in the cleaning tank and a controller configured to vary a power applied to the sonication generator to agitate the liquid in the cleaning tank based on an oscillation position of a workpiece within the cleaning tank.

Sonication cleaning system

Methods of cleaning workpieces are described. One method includes performing both a sonication cleaning operation and a rinse cleaning operation within a single cleaning tank. Another cleaning method described includes the use of cross flow of cleaning liquid within a cleaning tank while performing a rinse clean. The cleaning method includes the oscillation of one or more workpieces in the cleaning tank to perform the rinse clean.

Multiple cleaning processes in a single tank

A sonication cleaning tank containing a liquid is monitored. A first opacity count is generated indicative of contaminants and/or bubbles in the liquid. At least some of the liquid is filtered to remove contaminants from the liquid, and a second opacity count indicative of contaminants and/or bubbles in the filtered liquid is generated. Based at least in part on the first and second opacity counts, a contaminant count corresponding to an estimated number of contaminants in the liquid is then determined.

A cleaning tank apparatus and methods for cleaning workpieces are described. The cleaning tank may include an outlet plate having a top edge and a bottom edge, with the outlet plate having a plurality of rows of outlet openings. The plurality of rows of outlet openings including a first row of outlet openings being closest to the top edge of the outlet plate, and a second row of outlet openings below the first row of outlet openings, wherein at least one of the outlet openings of the first row is larger than the outlet openings of the second row.

Cross flow tank

A disk is placed into a sonication cleaning tank containing a liquid. A first flow rate and a first sonication power are applied to the liquid to clean the disk. An opacity count is generated indicative of contaminants and/or bubbles in the liquid. Based at least in part on the opacity count, a second flow rate and a second sonication power are then applied to the liquid.

Process control for a sonication cleaning tank

Methods of cleaning one or more workpieces are described. A method includes oscillating workpieces while performing a cleaning operation (e.g., sonication, rinse, etc.) and dwelling the workpieces at one or more oscillation positions (e.g., an upper oscillation position, an lower oscillation position, or an intermediate oscillation position) for corresponding one or more dwell time periods.

The perpendicular recording head includes a yoke that has a plurality of grooves essentially perpendicular to a magnetic flux that flows in a vertical direction relative to the yoke.
