In example implementations, an apparatus is provided. The apparatus includes an expansion slot, a peripheral device connected to the expansion slot, and a processor communicatively coupled to the expansion slot. The processor is to determine that a compatibility of the peripheral device with active state power management (ASPM) is unknown, provide a notification to indicate that the compatibility of the peripheral device with ASPM is unknown, wherein the notification provides a selection between disabling ASPM for the peripheral device or enabling ASPM for the peripheral device, and configure a basic input/output system (BIOS) setting in accordance with the selection to control the ASPM for the peripheral device.

Active state power management controls

The disclosed technology is directed to a computing device for detecting and preventing melting of a component of the computing device. In some examples, the computing device includes a cable that connects a power supply unit and an add-on card, and a thermal protection controller. Based on a sensor signal from a temperature sensor of the cable, the thermal protection controller determines that a temperature associated with the cable exceeds a threshold temperature. Responsive to determining that the temperature associated with the cable exceeds the threshold temperature, the thermal protection controller causes the power supply unit to cease supplying power to the add-on card by transmitting an overtemperature signal through the cable.

In some examples, an electronic device includes an audio output device, an airflow generator to generate an airflow, and a system controller to control an operational speed of the airflow generator. The electronic device further includes an audio controller to generate a noise cancellation audio output based on an indicator of the operational speed of the airflow generator provided from the system controller to the audio controller, and send the noise cancellation audio output to the audio output device to mitigate noise produced by the airflow generator.

In example implementations, a computing device is provided. The computing device includes an expansion interface, a first device, a second device, and a processor communicatively coupled to the expansion interface. The expansion interface includes a plurality of slots. Two slots of the plurality of slots are controlled by a single reset signal. The first device is connected to a first slot of the two slots and has a feature that is compatible with the single reset signal. The second device is connected to a second slot of the two slots and does not have the feature compatible with the single reset signal. The process is to detect the first device connected to the first slot and the second device connected to the second slot and disable the feature by preventing the first slot and the second slot from receiving the single reset signal.

In example implementations, an apparatus is provided. The apparatus includes a riser card body, a first interface, a first 2×8 slot on a surface of the riser card body, and a second 2×8 slot on a same side of the surface of the riser card body as the first 2×8 slot. The first interface includes a first set of fingers and a second set of fingers at an end of the riser card body to connect to a peripheral component interconnect express (PCIe) slot of a motherboard. The first 2×8 slot and the second 2×8 slot are positioned perpendicular to the PCIe slot of the motherboard.

An example redundant power supply system comprises a power supply input to receive power from a power supply; a buck-boost converter coupled to the power supply input; and a controller coupled to the buck-boost converter. The controller is to receive a power supply identification signal from the power supply. The controller is also to enable or disable the buck-boost converter based on the power supply identification signal.

Example implementations relate to power supply controllers. In some examples, a controller can include instructions to: set a power threshold for a power supply coupled to a computing component when the computing component is operating in a first state, determine when the computing component is alternating from the first state to a second state, and allow the power supply to exceed the power threshold for a fixed period of time in response to the computing component alternating from the first state to the second state.

In one example, an adapter card may include a circuit board having a male interface to be inserted into a discrete graphics card slot and a peripheral component interconnect express (PCIe) slot to communicatively couple a PCIe device. Further, the adapter card may include a voltage converter circuit disposed on the circuit board to convert a first voltage associated with the discrete graphics card slot to a second voltage corresponding to the PCIe device and a level shifter circuit disposed on the circuit board to modify a signal level in the discrete graphics card slot to a signal level in the PCIe device.

In example implementations, an apparatus is provided. The apparatus includes an accelerometer, a plurality of fan blades, a coil magnet and a processor. The accelerometer is coupled to a motor to measure an amount of vibration. The plurality of fan blades is coupled to the motor. Each one of the plurality of fan blades comprises a magnet. The coil magnet is coupled to a fan housing that encloses the motor, the plurality of fan blades and the accelerometer. The processor is communicatively coupled to the motor, the accelerometer, and the coil magnet. The processor activates the coil magnet to control a balance of the plurality of fan blades in response to an amount of vibration measured by the accelerometer that exceeds a threshold.

In one example, touchpad assembly is disclosed, which may include a bottom cover, a horizontal elastic member flexibly positioned on the bottom cover, a balancing bar disposed on the bottom cover and substantially parallel to the horizontal elastic member, and a metal dome. The metal dome may include a first end fixedly connected to the bottom cover via a first fixture, and a second end to hold the horizontal elastic member and the balancing bar such that the balancing bar is flexibly engaged with the bottom cover. The balancing bar, the metal dome, and the horizontal elastic member may control a flexure of a touchpad when the touchpad is pressed.

An operation mode is determined based on user behavior data, an environmental data of the electronic device is determined and a system operating data of the electronic device is determined. A system control parameter can be adjusted based on the environmental data and the system operating data to regulate the heat generating element and/or the cooling element to achieve the operating mode.

An enclosure is provided. A housing () can have one or more walls (). At least one of the one or more walls () can include a thermally conductive, carbonaceous member (). The thermally conductive, carbonaceous member () can be partially or completely encapsulated within one or more electrically non-conductive materials.

An exemplary thermal protection system includes a body having a first surface, at least one stationary thermal member disposed at least partially proximate the first surface and at least one heat producing device. An aperture, defined by at least one exterior edge can penetrate both the body and the stationary thermal member. At least a portion of the heat producing device can be disposed proximate the aperture. A moveable thermal member translatable between a first position and a second position, can be disposed proximate the stationary thermal member, the aperture, and the heat producing device when in the first position. When in the first position, a first portion of the moveable thermal member can overlap at least a portion of the stationary thermal member. When in the second position, the moveable thermal member can be disposed distal to the aperture and the at least one heat producing device.
