Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Generally, the described techniques provide for efficiently reporting channel state information (CSI) with limited overhead. In one aspect, if a user equipment (UE) is configured to transmit data and CSI to a base station periodically, the UE may transmit the CSI when the UE has data to transmit to the base station. In particular, the UE may transmit data and a CSI report during a transmission opportunity if the UE has data to transmit in the transmission opportunity. Otherwise, the UE may suppress transmission of the CSI report. In another aspect, a UE may be configured to transmit CSI to a base station when downlink channel conditions change. In particular, the UE may request to report CSI to the base station when channel conditions change, and the base station may trigger the UE to report the CSI after receiving the request.

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to configurations for new radio (NR) devices with reduced capabilities. Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A wireless device (e.g., a base station) may transmit, to a user equipment (UE), an indication of a field type of a field between the UE and the wireless device. The indication of the field type may include one or more bits indicating the field type, a measure indicating a likelihood that the field type includes a first field type as compared to a second field type, an indication that the first type is the same as a second field type configured at the UE, or any combination thereof. The UE may select between a first set of beam weight vectors and a second set of beam weight vectors based on the field type. The UE may communicate, with the base station, a reference signal using a beam generated using a first beam weight vector from the selected set.

A first wireless node may transmit, to a second wireless node, an indication of an orbital angular momentum (OAM) base value that is associated with one or more OAM modes. The OAM base value may correspond to a number of antenna elements of an antenna ring at the first wireless node, and for each of the one or more OAM modes. Based on the OAM base value, the first wireless node may communicate reference signaling according to the one or more OAM modes using the number of antenna elements of the antenna ring. In some aspects, a base station may determine that a distance between an end of a first downlink control information (DCI) and a corresponding first physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) and a distance between an end of a second DCI and a corresponding second PDSCH satisfy a minimum distance threshold for a user equipment (UE). The ends of the DCIs are to be received at the same symbol. The base station may transmit the first DCI, the first PDSCH, the second DCI, and the second PDSCH based at least in part on determining that the distances satisfy the minimum distance threshold. In some aspects, the UE may decode the first and second DCIs in an order that depends on DCI properties. Numerous other aspects are provided.

One method for providing a wake-up signal to user equipments (UEs) that support multiple multicast sessions may include a base station transmitting configuration information to a UE indicating a wake-up signal configuration for one or more multicast sessions. The UE receives from the network an indication of a maximum rank of an uplink from an interfering, aggressor UE. The UE measures interference of a signal from the aggressor UE, and based on the measurement, determines one or more rank values for the aggressor UE, less than or equal to the maximum rank. The UE may further determine one or more channel parameters for downlink transmissions the UE receives, corresponding to the determined rank values. The UE then transmits a channel state information (CSI) report that includes an indication of at least one of the one or more rank values for the aggressor UE.
