The present invention concerns the use of a mixture of organic peroxides for crosslinking a polyolefin elastomer (POE), in particular intended to be used in photovoltaic applications. The invention also relates to a crosslinkable composition comprising at least one polyolefin elastomer (POE) and at least one mixture of organic peroxides. The present invention also concerns a method for preparing a material made from polyolefin elastomer (POE), preferably an encapsulating material or a sealing agent, in particular for photovoltaic cells, comprising a step of crosslinking a crosslinkable composition as defined previously.

Use of a mixture of organic peroxides for crosslinking a polyolefin elastomer

The use of peroxide(s) for cross-linking at least one polymer, the polymer having a homopolymer or copolymer of ethylene and especially the ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer (EVA) or a mixture of the EVA with another homopolymer or copolymer of ethylene, and at least one peroxide, wherein the peroxide includes OO-tert-butyl O-isopropyl monoperoxycarbonate or OO-tert-amyl O-isopropyl monoperoxycarbonate and OO-tert-butyl-O-2-ethyl hexyl monoperoxycarbonate or OO-tert-amyl-O-2ethyl hexyl monoperoxycarbonate. Also, a cross-linkable composition including the peroxide and to a method for producing a cross-linked polymer as a result of the peroxide.

Use of mixtures of monoperoxycarbonate peroxides for the cross-linking and composition of cross-linkable polymers

The present invention pertains to a curable composition comprising (a) at least one ethylene polymer, (b) less than 2 parts by weight of at least one monoperoxycarbonate for 100 parts by weight of constituent (a), (c) from 0.4 to less than 4 part by weight of at least one t-alkyl hydroperoxide for 100 parts by weight of constituent (b). It is also directed to a method for preventing scorching of a curable composition comprising an ethylene polymer, by adding a specific amount of t-alkyl hydroperoxide thereto and to a method for manufacturing a scorch-protected material.

Curable composition comprising an ethylene polymer, a monoperoxycarbonate and a t-alkyl hydroperoxide

The present invention pertains to a curable composition comprising (a) at least one ethylene polymer, (b) at least one monoperoxycarbonate, and (c) from 0.05 to less than 0.4 part by weight of at least one t-alkyl hydroperoxide for 100 parts by weight of constituent (b). It is also directed to a method for preventing scorching of a curable composition comprising an ethylene polymer by adding a specific amount of t-alkyl hydroperoxide thereto.
