A multi-lamp backlight apparatus is disclosed. The multi-lamp backlight apparatus includes 2N lamps, N balancing transformers, and a high-voltage power source. N is a positive integer and k is an integer index ranging from 1 to N. The kth balancing transformer among the N balancing transformers includes a first primary winding, a second primary winding, and a secondary winding. The first primary winding connects in series with the (2k&#x2212;1)th lamp of the 2N lamps. The second primary winding connects in series with the first primary winding and the (2k)th lamp. The secondary winding corresponds to the first primary winding and the second primary winding. The high-voltage power source is connected between the first primary windings and the second primary windings.

Multi-lamp backlight apparatus

The invention discloses a backlight apparatus. The backlight apparatus includes a power source, a lamp, a balance transformer, a detecting circuit, a judging module, and a controlling module. The balance transformer includes a primary winding electrically connected to the power source and a secondary winding corresponding to the primary winding and electrically connected to the lamp. The detecting circuit is used for detecting a current generated by the secondary winding and generating a first voltage according to the current. The judging module is used for judging whether the value of the first voltage is smaller than a default value. The controlling module is used for controlling the power source according to a judgment made by the judging module.

Backlight apparatus capable of short prevention and voltage feedback compensation

An inverter for driving multiple discharge lamps. The inverter has a transformer for driving a first discharge lamp and a second discharge lamp. The inverter also includes a first balancing circuit connected in series with the first discharge lamp and a second balancing circuit connected in series with the second discharge lamp. According to a matching signal, the first and the second balancing circuits adjust a first lamp current through the first discharge lamp and a second lamp current through the second discharge lamp, respectively. A comparator is provided to receive a first sensing signal from the first balancing circuit and a second sensing signal from the second balancing circuit. Comparing the first sensing signal with the second sensing signal, the comparator generates the matching signal which controls the first and the second balancing circuits to equalize the first lamp current and the second lamp current.

Multiple-lamp backlight inverter

A variable resistance device is provided. Instead of a conventional planar-type structure or a three-dimensional structure using an elastic strip, a variable resistance device with a three-dimensional structure using easy-assembling parts, such as a mount and a spring, is adapted. The easy-assembling parts would not be deformed permanently so that the reliability of the variable resistance device is enhanced.
