The present disclosure relates to reagents and method for performing trifluoromethylation, difluoromethylation or alkylation of aromatic or heteroaromatic rings in a redox-neutral manner without any catalyst which are enabled by light. In addition, there are methods for synthesizing the starting reagents used in the trifluoromethylation, difluoromethylation or alkylation reactions.

Catalyst-free and redox-neutral innate trifluoromethylation and alkylation of (hetero)aromatics enabled by light

It is provided a method of converting a diaryl ether source such as lignin and/or polyphenylene oxide (PPO) containing 4-O-5 linkages and an inorganic chemical such as ammonia into an organic compound, comprising reacting said diaryl ether source with the inorganic chemical in presence of a catalyst, preferably palladium, transforming the 4-O-5 linkages of said diaryl ether source into the organic compound. It is provided a palladium-catalyzed synthesis of aniline derivatives from 4-O-5 linkage lignin model compounds and cheap industrial inorganic chemical ammonia via dual C(Ar)&#x2014;O bond cleavage.

Method to convert lignin 4-O-5 diaryl ethers and their model compounds into organic chemicals

A method for the preparation of a metal-organic compound is provided. This method comprises the steps of (a) providing at least one metal precursor, (b) providing at least one bridging organic ligand, and (c) exposing together the metal precursor and the ligand to liquid COor supercritical COas a reaction medium, thereby producing said metal-organic compound.

These ligands are useful in asymmetric reactions as well as in asymmetric synthesis of molecules of biological interest.
