A power supply detection apparatus includes a power sourcing equipment (PSE) circuit, a power supply module, and a reverse circuit. The PSE circuit is configured to send a first sounding electrical signal and a second sounding electrical signal to the reverse circuit. The reverse circuit outputs the first sounding electrical signal to a wire-pair group of an Ethernet cable, performs reverse processing on the second sounding electrical signal, and outputs a reverse-processed second sounding electrical signal to the wire-pair group. The PSE circuit is configured to determine, using the first sounding electrical signal, a forward sounding result of a to-be-detected device; and determine a reverse sounding result of the to-be-detected device based on the second sounding electrical signal. The power supply detection apparatus is configured to determine that the to-be-detected device is a non-PD when the forward sounding result or the reverse sounding result is a short circuit.

Power supply detection apparatus and method for detecting power to a power over ethernet device

A communication system includes a first device and a second device connected through an electro-optical composite cable. The electro-optical composite cable includes an optical fiber and a power supply cable. The optical fiber is used to transmit a data signal. The power supply cable is used to transmit a direct current. The first device is configured to send a first alternating-current signal to the second device through the power supply cable. The second device is configured to switch a running status based on the first alternating-current signal.

A connection manner identification method includes power sourcing equipment separately sending load adjustment indications to powered devices by using data ports, where each load adjustment indication in the load adjustment indications indicates a corresponding powered device to adjust a load. The powered devices are separately connected to power supply ports of the power sourcing equipment by using power supply cables, and the powered devices are separately connected to the data ports of the power sourcing equipment by using data cables. The power sourcing equipment obtains output power changes of the power supply ports caused by load adjustment of the powered devices, and the power sourcing equipment determines, based on the output power changes, a first data port and a power supply port that are connected to a same powered device in the powered devices.

The PSE includes: a low-power detection component, configured to: detect a power supply port when being connected to the power supply port; and send a first instruction when the power supply port is connected to a valid powered device PD, to instruct a control switch to connect a PSE chip and the power supply port and disconnect the low-power detection component from the power supply port, and instruct a power switch to connect the PSE chip and a power supply; the control switch, configured to: according to the first instruction, connect the PSE chip and the power supply port, and disconnect the low-power detection component from the power supply port; and the power switch, configured to connect the PSE chip to the power supply port according to the first instruction.
