According to one embodiment, a method for wireless communication includes coupling a base station to a network access device. The network access device provides access to an Internet service provider network. The method also includes determining, at the base station, a plurality of available communication channels of a wireless service provider network that may be utilized to communicate with an endpoint. In addition, the method includes determining, at the base station, at least one interference power measurement for at least one channel of the plurality of channels. Further, the method includes determining, at the base station, at least one average interference power for at least one channel of the plurality of channels utilizing the at least one interference power measurement. The method also includes automatically selecting a channel for communication with the endpoint in response to determining the at least one average interference power. Moreover, the method includes providing the endpoint access to the wireless service provider network utilizing the Internet service provider network via the selected channel.

System and method for selecting channels in wireless communication

A method for implementing a self organizing network includes establishing a connection between a femto base station and a network access device operable to provide the femto base station with Internet access. The method also includes establishing a backhaul connection between the femto base station and a wireless service provider's network via the Internet. The method further includes establishing a wireless connection with one or more endpoints via a radio frequency (RF) channel. The method additionally includes transmitting, from the femto base station to the wireless service provider's network, neighborhood RF interference information via the backhaul connection. The method also includes receiving RF channel re-provisioning information from the wireless service provider's network and re-provisioning the RF channel. The method further includes participating in a hand-off procedure to hand-off the endpoints to the re-provisioned RF channel.

Self organizing network

The teachings of the present disclosure relate to a method for receiving 'N' data streams (wherein 'N' is a number greater than one) from &#x201c;N&#x201d; endpoints. Each of the data streams are received from a different respective endpoint. The method also includes decoding the &#x201c;N&#x201d; data streams by generating a decoding signal input comprising the &#x201c;N&#x201d; data streams and then iteratively repeating the following steps &#x201c;N&#x201d;&#x2212;1 times: determine a most reliable stream; decode the most reliable stream using linear multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) decoding; output the decoded most reliable stream; estimate a signal estimate based on the most reliable stream and modulation information associated with the most reliable stream; and generate a residual signal that comprises the remaining data streams less the signal estimate. Upon the residual signal comprising two data streams, the method includes updating the decoding signal input to be the residual signal. Upon the residual signal comprising a single received stream, the method includes decoding the residual signal using a maximum likelihood decoder.

Method and system for implementing a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) decoder scheme

A method for implementing an in-band relay scheme includes establishing a connection between a base station and a relay station and between the relay station and a mobile station using a frequency. The method also includes receiving data from the base station during a frame via the frequency, the frame comprising a downlink sub-frame, and an uplink sub-frame, wherein the data is received during a beginning portion of the downlink sub-frame. The method further includes transitioning from receive to transmit during the downlink sub-frame. The method additionally includes transmitting data, received from the base station during a previous frame, to the endpoint during a later portion of the downlink sub-frame via the frequency. The method also includes transmitting data received from the endpoint during a previous frame, to the base station during a beginning portion of the uplink sub-frame via the frequency. The method further includes transitioning from transmit to receive during the uplink sub-frame. The method also includes receiving data from the endpoint during a later portion of the uplink sub-frame via the frequency.
