Systems and methods are provided for calibrating computed tomography (CT) system. In one example, a method for a computed tomography (CT) system comprises, during a calibration of the CT system, measuring a position of a detector element of a detector array of the CT system using a wire of a wire phantom coupled to a table of the CT system, during a rotational scan performed using the CT system; and during a subsequent scan performed on a subject using the CT system, applying the measured position of the detector element rather than a design target position of the detector element during reconstruction of an image from projection data acquired via the CT system; and displaying the reconstructed image on a display device of the CT system.

Systems and methods for CT detector calibration using a wire phantom

Systems and methods are provided for increasing a quality of computed tomography (CT) images. In one embodiment, a computed tomography (CT) detector system comprises a layer of energy integrating detectors (EID) arranged below a layer of photon counting (PC) sensors with respect to an incoming x-ray, where a number of the PC sensors exceeds a number of the EID detectors; and an image processing unit configured to correct PC data using EID data, and denoise and increase a resolution of an image reconstructed from EID data and PC data using a deep learning convolutional neural network (CNN) trained on pairs of images, each pair of images including a target image reconstructed from a first signal from the layer of PC sensors, and an input image reconstructed from a second signal from the layer of EID detectors, the EID data and PC data acquired concurrently from a same patient ray path.

Systems and methods for computed tomography

Various systems and methods are provided for an integrated filter assembly including at least one bowtie filter and at least one beam hardening filter mounted on a carriage. In one embodiment, an imaging system may include a first carriage including at least one beam hardening filter and at least one bowtie filter, a second carriage including at least two additional bowtie filters, and a carriage driving system for moving the carriages to selectively position the at least one beam hardening filter and one of the bowtie filters in a path of an X-ray beam. The at least one beam hardening filter may overlap with at least one of the bowtie filters.

Systems and methods for an integrated filter assembly with two carriages

There is provided a computed tomography imaging system including a gantry including a rotating member on a rotating side, a stationary member on a stationary side, and a data communication system. The rotating member on the rotating side includes an X-ray source configured to emit X-rays, an X-ray detector configured to generate detector data, a data storage unit configured to store the detector data, and processing circuitry configured to process at least part of the stored detector data to generate a processed data set. The stationary member on the stationary side is communicatively coupled to the rotating member on the rotating side, and the data communication system is configured to transfer the processed data set from the rotating member on the rotating side to the stationary member on the stationary side.

Adaptive data acquisition for computed tomography systems

Methods and systems are provided for signal processing in a detector assembly of an imaging system. In one embodiment, an imaging system may include a plurality of detector blocks, each detector block including an array of silicon photomultiplier (SiPM) devices divided into at least two regions, with the SiPM devices in the two or more regions transmitting signals to two or more distinct timing pick-off circuits. In this way, a SiPM array may be subdivided into regions with a signal summed from SiPMs of a single region being transmitted to a separate timing pick-off circuit.

Methods and systems for pet detectors

A scintillator crystal assembly includes a crystal array and an open reflective insert. The crystal array is configured to receive rays emitted by an object to be imaged and to emit light energy responsive to the received rays. The crystal array comprising plural crystals arranged in rows. Each crystal includes a reception surface configured to receive the rays emitted by the object to be imaged, an emission surface configured to emit the light energy responsive to the received rays, and plural sides extending from the emission surface that are aligned with sides of adjacent crystals in the crystal array. The open reflective insert is disposed between adjacent rows of the crystal array, and includes at least one reflective portion and at least one opening. The at least one reflective portion defines an area and the at least one opening is positioned within the area.

Systems and methods for scintillators having reflective inserts

A multichannel ASIC for interfacing with an array of photodetectors in a PET imaging system includes a front-end circuit configured to be coupled to the array of photodetectors and to receive analog signals therefrom. The ASIC includes a time discriminating circuit including a low input impedance amplifier configured to be coupled to the array of photodetectors and to receive a signal summing the analog signals from the array of photodetectors and to generate a hit signal for timing pickoff based on the signal. The ASIC includes an energy circuit operably coupled to the front-end circuit and configured to generate a summed energy output signal based on each of the analog signals and summed positional output signal based on each of the analog signals.

Readout electronics architecture with improved timing resolution

A multichannel application specific integrated circuit (ASIC) for interfacing with an array of photodetectors in a positron emission tomography (PET) imaging system includes a front end circuit configured to be coupled to the photodetectors and to receive discrete analog signals therefrom. The ASIC further includes a time discriminating circuit operably coupled to the front end circuit and configured to generate a hit signal based on a combination of the discrete analog signals, and an energy discriminating circuit operably coupled to the front end circuit and configured to generate a summed energy output signal based on each of the discrete analog signals and summed row and column output signals based on each of the discrete analog signals. The summed energy output signal represents an energy level of the detected radiation in the array of photodetectors, and the summed row and column output signals represent a location of the detected radiation.

Method and apparatus for interfacing with an array of photodetectors

A method of correcting a timing signal that represents an arrival time of a photon at a positron emission tomography (PET) detector includes receiving a timing signal that represents an arrival time of a photon at a PET detector, receiving an energy signal indicative of an energy of the photon, calculating a timing correction using the energy signal, modifying the timing signal using the timing correction, and generating an image of an object using the modified timing signal. A system and non-transitory computer readable medium are also described herein.
