A wireless power system is disclosed that allows data to be read and written into a wireless power transmission system of a wireless power transmitter through near-field communications (NFC). A method of exchanging data with a power transmission system in the wireless power transmitter and a graphical user interface coupled to a wireless power receiver in communications with the wireless power transmitter includes communicating a data packet with the power transmission system through a near-field communications (NFC) link between a wireless power receiver and the wireless power transmitter; receiving the data packet in the power transmission system; and performing a task defined by a header command code in the data packet.

Near field communication and wireless power

An authentication method for authenticating a wireless power transmitter to a wireless power receiver includes receiving a SSP value, an ID, and a random number RND from a wireless power receiver; determining an index based on the RND; choosing a base code from a set of base codes according to the index; determining a secure code from the base code, the index, the RND, the SSP value, and the ID; and transmitting the secure code to the wireless power receiver. A further method includes receiving a secure code from the wireless power transmitter; retrieving an index from the secure code; determining a base code from a set of base codes according to the index; calculating a second secure code; and authenticating the wireless power transmitter by comparing the secure code and the second secure code.

Wireless power charging with authentication

According to some embodiments, a wireless power transmitter is disclosed. The wireless power transmitter can include a plurality of transmission coils arranged to cover a charging area and coupled with a ferrite; a plurality of local power controllers, each of the plurality of local power controllers coupled to drive a subset of the plurality of transmission coils, each subset of the plurality of transmission coils including a plurality of the plurality of transmission coils; and a microcontroller unit (MCU) coupled to the plurality of local power controllers, the microcontroller unit including a MCU processor executing instructions to designate states of each of the plurality of transmission coils, the states including active, de-active, and selected for receiver detection, and executing instructions to transmit instructions to each of the plurality of local power controllers in accordance with the state designations.

Multi-coil PTX/PRX operation and control

In accordance with some embodiments of the present invention, an ion cooling engine (ICE) controlled by a transmitting or receiving device cools a transmit or receive coil and possibly other parts of a wireless power transmitter or receiver system. In some embodiments, the ICE includes a low-voltage circuit controlled by the transmitting device and coupled to a high voltage circuit that generates the airflow. Other features are also provided.
