Provided are a color converting substrate and a display device including same. The color converting substrate includes: a base portion in which a first light transmission area, a first light blocking area, and a second light transmission area, which are sequentially and closely arranged in a first direction, are defined; a first wavelength converting pattern located on the base portion and configured to wavelength-covert a first color light into a second color light; a second wavelength converting pattern located on the base portion and configured to wavelength-convert the first color light into a third color light; and a light transmission pattern located on the base portion and configured to transmit the first color light.

A display device includes: a first substrate; a second substrate disposed opposite to the first substrate; a light blocking pattern disposed on the first substrate; and a column spacer which is disposed on the first substrate and maintains a distance between the first substrate and the second substrate, where the light blocking pattern and the column spacer are spaced apart from each other, and the column spacer has an island shape surrounded by the light blocking pattern.

Display device and method of manufacturing the same

A liquid crystal display according to an exemplary embodiment of the present inventive concept includes: a first insulating substrate; a thin film transistor disposed on the first insulating substrate; a light blocking member disposed on the thin film transistor; and a spacer disposed on the light blocking member, wherein the spacer includes a main column spacer and a sub column spacer, and the sub column spacer is disposed between the main column spacer and has a stripe shape which extends in parallel to a gate line of the thin film transistor.
