A printed circuit board assembly includes a printed circuit board, a radio frequency detection circuit, and one or more damping elements. The radio frequency detection circuit is in electrical communication with the printed circuit board and defines a ring-down time interval. The one or more damper elements is mechanically coupled to the printed circuit board and has a damping coefficient that makes the duration of a mechanical ring-down time interval of the printed circuit board assembly shorter than the electrical ring-down time interval of the radio frequency detection circuit.

Tools and methods for reduced mechanical ringing

Various embodiments include a method for generating a pulse for use in nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) logging. One such method generates the pulse by adjusting one or more of pulse parameters including a pulse shape, a pulse amplitude, a pulse phase, and/or a pulse frequency. The generated pulse produces a substantially uniform nuclear spin saturation or nuclear spin inversion response from a fluid. A wait time between the pulse transmission and an echo that indicates spin equilibrium has been achieved is substantially equal to a Ttime indicating characteristics of the fluid.

Selective NMR pulse for downhole measurements

Various embodiments include a method for configuring and generating a non-adiabatic saturation pulse for use in nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) logging. One such method configures the pulse by adjusting one or more of pulse amplitude modulation or phase cycling. The modified pulse is transmitted into a fluid such that a substantially uniform nuclear spin saturation or nuclear spin inversion echo response is received from the fluid. A wait time between the pulse transmission and the echo response that indicates that spin equilibrium has been achieved is substantially equal to a Ttime. The wait time is an indication of the characteristics of the fluid.

Selective saturation pulse for downhole measurements

A nuclear magnetic resonance logging tool is provided. The tool includes a flexible or semi-flexible circuit board, at least one capacitor mounted on board, and a controller programmed to apply sequential pulses to the at least one capacitor of the tool with a spacing of less than 600 &#x3bc;s between adjacent pulses. Ring down time induced by the at least one capacitor in response to pulses is less than about 200 &#x3bc;s.
