An air-conditioner and the refrigerant charging method of the air-conditioner are disclosed. When a refrigerant amount determining mode is requested to be performed, whether or not the refrigerant amount in the air-conditioner is proper is automatically determined and a shortage amount of refrigerant can be charged. Thus, a user can easily check whether or not the refrigerant charged in the air-conditioner is sufficient or insufficient, and if the refrigerant is not sufficient, the user can automatically charge the refrigerant without having to entirely remove the refrigerant from the air-conditioner, thus increasing the user convenience and reducing time and costs.

In a refrigerant amount determining method of an air-conditioning apparatus, when a refrigerant amount determining mode is requested to be performed, whether or not the amount of refrigerant in the air-conditioning apparatus can be automatically determined. In the airconditioner having N compressors, the method sequentially and equally operates the N compressors using a two-dimensional matrix which prevents only a specific compressor from among the N compressors from being repeatedly operated, arranges rows and columns of the two-dimensional matrix to allow all compressors to be alternately operated according to the number of operating compressors from among all compressors, and stochastically operates and stops the N compressors using the two-dimensional matrix. As a result, the method controls the N compressors to be equally operated without overlapping operation times of the N compressors, and alleviates fatigue of the compressors, resulting in equally longer lifetimes of the N compressors.

Disclosed herein is a method of controlling a linear expansion valve of a cooling cycle apparatus. The method comprises a first step of calculating a target opening level value according to suction overheat level of compressors to control a linear expansion valve based on the calculated target opening level value, and a second step of calculating a new target opening level value according to the suction overheat level of the compressors and discharge temperature of the compressors to control the linear expansion valve based on the calculated new target opening level value. Consequently, the discharge temperature of the compressors is prevented from being excessively increased, and therefore, the compressors are prevented from being overheated and damaged, and reliability of the cooling cycle apparatus is improved.

Cooling cycle apparatus and method of controlling linear expansion valve of the same

A cooling/heating apparatus using a cogeneration system is disclosed. The cooling/heating apparatus includes a discharge-side refrigerant heating unit which supplies heat of exhaust gas generated from an engine to a discharge-side refrigerant line connected to a compressor included in a cooling/heating unit, a suction-side refrigerant heating unit which supplies heat of cooling water used to cool the engine and the heat of the exhaust gas to a suction-side refrigerant line connected to the compressor, a discharge-side refrigerant temperature sensor which senses a temperature of a refrigerant passing through the discharge-side refrigerant line, and a bypass unit which bypasses the exhaust gas heat supplied to the discharge-side refrigerant line via the discharge-side refrigerant heating unit when the refrigerant temperature sensed by the discharge-side refrigerant temperature sensor is not lower than a predetermined temperature, to cut off the supply of the exhaust gas heat or to adjust an amount of the supplied exhaust gas heat. The exhaust gas heat and cooling water heat are appropriately distributed to both the suction and discharge sides of the compressor, so that it is possible to achieve an enhancement in heating performance and an enhancement in system efficiency.

A cogeneration system is disclosed, wherein a generator which generates electricity, a drive source which operates to drive the generator, and generates waste heat during the operation of the drive source, a waste heat recoverer which recovers the waste heat of the drive source, and a radiator which radiates the waste heat recovered by the waste heat recoverer are arranged in a single chassis. The cogeneration system has a compact and simple arrangement, and achieves simple control operations, and an enhancement in operability.

The system includes an engine, a generator connected to an output shaft of the engine to generate electricity, a heat pump type air conditioner, through which a refrigerant is circulated, the heat pump type air conditioner comprising a compressor, a directional valve, an outdoor heat exchanger, an expansion device, and an indoor heat exchanger, an indoor dehumidifying agent body to dehumidify indoor air, an indoor regeneration heater to regenerate the indoor dehumidifying agent body, and a waste heat recovering means to supply waste heat of the engine to the indoor regeneration heater, and thus, to allow the indoor regeneration heater to use the supplied waste heat as a heat source for the regeneration of the indoor dehumidifying agent body, or to supply the waste heat of the engine to the refrigerant of the heat pump type air conditioner, so that the system exhibits maximal efficiency.

Herein, when a full operation order is inputted to the two compressors in order to satisfy increased cooling load, the first compressor is first operated, and then the second compressor having a compression capacity of a refrigerant smaller than that of the first compressor is additionally operated, so that a current peak value for operating the compressors does not exceed an allowable current range of a circuit breaker installed in a home or building, thereby safely controlling the air conditioning system and simultaneously allowing the current to be provided to other electric appliances, thus improving users' convenience.
