There is provided a spindle motor including: upper and lower thrust parts fixedly installed on a shaft; a reception part formed in the rotor hub to thereby receive an end portion of the upper thrust part and form an oil interface together with the upper thrust part; and a clamp fixing part inserted into the reception part while having a clearance with the upper thrust part, and guiding a position of a clamp for fixing the recording medium.

There is provided a spindle motor including: a lower thrust member fixedly attached to a base member; a shaft fixedly attached to at least one of the lower thrust member and the base member; a sleeve disposed on an upper portion of the lower thrust member and rotatably installed on the shaft; a rotor hub coupled to the sleeve to thereby rotate together therewith; and an upper thrust member fixedly attached to an upper end portion of the shaft and forming a liquid-vapor interface together therewith, wherein the sleeve has an inclination part formed at an upper end portion thereof so as to form the liquid-vapor interface together with the upper thrust member, the inclination part having an outer diameter larger in an upper portion thereof than in a lower portion thereof.

There is provided a spindle motor. The spindle motor includes a fixed member; and a rotating member rotating relatively to the fixed member, and having oil filling a bearing clearance formed between the fixed member and the rotating member, wherein the fixed member and the rotating member are provided with an oil diffusion path communicating an air/oil interface formed at a boundary between the oil filled in the bearing clearance and air with the outside, and at least one of the fixed member and the rotating member is provided with at least one dummy oil groove opened to the oil diffusion path and having oil filled in at least a portion of the inside thereof.

A hydrodynamic bearing assembly according to an aspect of the invention may include: a sleeve against which a shaft is supported so that an upper end of the shaft, being compressed and inserted into a hub base of a rotor case, protrudes upwardly in an axial direction; a first oil sealing unit having a first oil interface provided between the hub base and a counterpart component arranged downwardly in the axial direction; and a second oil sealing unit communicating with the first oil sealing unit through a communication channel and being tapered to form a second oil interface inside or outside the sleeve, wherein oil in the first oil sealing unit moves toward the second oil sealing unit along an inner diameter direction by a rotation of the rotor case.

Hydrodynamic bearing assembly and motor having the same

The present invention provides a spindle motor which has superior operating characteristics. The spindle motor includes a stationary support shaft which is fastened to a base plate, a thrust plate which is fitted over the stationary support shaft, a sleeve which is rotatably provided around the stationary support shaft and is coupled to a rotor casing, and an annular stopper which is fastened to the sleeve or the rotor casing to support the lower surface of the thrust plate and prevent the sleeve from being removed. A first fluid sealing part is formed between the stopper and the thrust plate. The spindle motor further includes an annular sealing cap which is coupled to the sleeve or the rotor casing to store fluid between the sealing cap and an upper surface of the sleeve. A second fluid sealing part is formed between the sealing cap and the stationary support shaft.

A motor includes a sleeve supporting a shaft such that an upper end of the shaft protrudes upwardly along an axial direction, a sleeve housing in which an outer diameter portion of the sleeve is inserted and supported, an oil sealing cap covering the sleeve at an opposite side of the sleeve housing, and having a sealing protrusion protruding from a top surface thereof to form a capillary seal of oil between the shaft and the sleeve, and a hub base pressure-fitted and fixed on the upper end of the shaft, and having a hub-base outer diameter portion facing the sealing protrusion and forming a first oil sealing part with the sealing protrusion.
