A cap for connection to a medical connector comprises: a housing, a protrusion, a disinfection sponge, and a pressure seal. The protrusion includes an inner thread on an inner surface, the inner thread being sufficient to interlock with a mating feature of a female medical connector. The inner surface of the protrusion defines a second cavity. The protrusion includes an outer thread on an outer surface, the outer thread being sufficient to interlock with a mating feature of a male medical connector. The disinfection sponge is disposed on the second cavity. The pressure seal is attached to the housing and disposed adjacent to a surface of the disinfection sponge. The pressure seal can comprise a flexible insert attached to an interior surface of the top wall of the housing. The pressure seal can comprise a combination of: an elongate member and an insert that is slidably engaged with the elongate member.

Universal cap with pressure seal

A device for connection to a medical connector, the device includes a cap having an annular wall having an exterior wall surface and an interior wall surface including a plurality of inwardly extending protrusions sized and shaped to frictionally engage a male luer, and a peelable seal. The cap configured to define a chamber to contain an absorbent material and disinfectant or antimicrobial agent. The cap includes one or more threads adapted to engage with a female luer connector. The cap is adapted to engage a male luer connector in a press-fit connection. The peelable seal prevents the disinfectant or the antimicrobial agent from exiting the chamber. Also described are methods of disinfecting a medical connector, and apparatuses comprising a device for disinfecting a medical connector.

Universal single-use cap for male and female connectors

A device for connection to a medical connector, the device includes a cap body, a coupling cylinder adapted to engage with a male luer connector and a female luer connector, a bulb compartment filled with air, a reagent compartment filled with disinfectant or an antimicrobial reagent, and a passageway connecting the bulb compartment to the reagent compartment. The reagent compartment includes an exterior wall surface, an interior wall surface, an array of resealable pores densely integrated throughout the exterior wall surface and the interior wall surface of the reagent compartment, and a distal tip. The passageway may be positioned in an aperture of the proximal wall of the cap body. The coupling cylinder may include an O-ring.

Universal disinfecting cap

A cap is described for connection to a medical connector, the cap includes a housing having a top wall and sidewall forming a first cavity, and a removable or integrally formed protrusion. The protrusion includes an inner thread on an inner surface, the inner thread being sufficient to interlock with a mating feature of a female needleless connector. The inner surface of the protrusion defines a second cavity. The protrusion includes an outer thread on an outer surface, the outer thread being sufficient to interlock with a mating feature of a male needleless connector. The second cavity configured to define a chamber to contain an absorbent material and disinfectant or antimicrobial agent. The cap may also include a peel seal and/or septum to prevent the disinfectant or the antimicrobial agent from exiting the second cavity. An exterior sidewall surface of the housing may include a plurality of grip members.

Universal connector or cap for male and female threaded fittings

A device for connection to a medical connector, the device includes an outer cap, an inner cap and a peelable seal. The outer cap configured to define a chamber to contain an absorbent material and disinfectant or antimicrobial agent. The outer cap including one or more threads adapted to engage with a female luer connector. The inner cap including one or more thread-tabs adapted to engage a male luer connector. The peelable seal prevents the disinfectant or the antimicrobial agent from exiting the chamber.

A disinfection cap is described for connection to a medical connector, the disinfection cap including a housing having a top wall and sidewall forming a cavity, a blockage feature disposed on the top wall of the cavity, the blockage feature for fluidly blocking a hub of a luer connector, disinfectant or antimicrobial agent disposed within an open cell foam structure within the cavity. The open cell foam structure releasing the disinfectant or antimicrobial agent as the open cell foam structure is depressed by the hub of the luer connector.

Disinfection cap

A disinfection cap is described for connection to a medical connector; the disinfection cap includes a housing having a top wall and sidewall forming a cavity. In one or more embodiments, a retention rod forming a fluid reservoir is disposed within the cavity for retaining disinfectant. In one or more embodiments, a corrugated capsule is disposed within the cavity for retaining disinfectant. Pressure buildup within the cavity due to insertion of a luer connector causes expulsion of disinfectant, thereby disinfecting the luer connector.

The cap configured to define a chamber to contain an absorbent material and disinfectant or antimicrobial agent. The cap includes one or more threads adapted to engage with a female luer connector. The cap is adapted to engage a male luer connector in a press-fit connection. The peelable seal prevents the disinfectant or the antimicrobial agent from exiting the chamber.

A disinfection cap is described for connection to a medical connector, the disinfection cap includes a housing having a top wall and sidewall forming a cavity, disinfectant or antimicrobial agent and a ball disposed within the cavity. An outer surface of the housing includes a thread sufficient to interlock with a mating feature of a threaded connector, or more specifically a male luer connector. The cap may also include a peelable seal to prevent the disinfectant or the antimicrobial agent from exiting the cavity. The cavity of the cap may also include one or more ribs disposed on the inner surface of the cavity to retain the ball in the cavity, forming a flow channel as the ball is depressed further into the cavity. An exterior sidewall surface of the housing may include a plurality of grip members.

Disinfectant cap

A disinfection cap is described for connection to a medical connector, the disinfection cap includes a housing having a top wall and sidewall forming a cavity, an open cell foam structure disposed within the cavity and a closed cell foam structure disposed against the open cell foam structure, the closed cell foam structure having an interference fit between the closed cell foam structure and the inner surface of the housing. The closed cell foam structure may have a polygonal or star shape, wherein fluid can flow through a gap formed between the closed cell foam structure and the inner surface of the cavity. The open cell foam structure may be impregnated with disinfectant, whereby compression of the open cell foam structure causes excretion of the disinfectant upon insertion of a luer connector.

A cap for disinfecting a needleless connector is described herein. The cap includes a housing having a cavity and an insert disposed within. The insert includes one or more cantilevered prongs disposed on a distal wall of the insert. The one or more cantilevered prongs are configured to bend upon insertion of the needleless connector. On an outer sidewall of the one or more cantilevered prongs are one or more ledges extending at essentially a right angle to the one or more cantilevered prongs, the one or more ledges being configured to push against the sidewall of the housing to resist further bending of the one or more cantilevered prongs upon advancement of the needleless connector.

Cap for male and female threaded fittings

A disinfecting cap is described including a housing, a protrusion and a cap cover, the housing including a top wall, an essentially cylindrical sidewall forming a first cavity, and an open bottom end opposite the top wall formed by the cylindrical sidewall with an opening to the first cavity within the housing for receiving a hub of a female needleless connector or a male needleless connector, wherein the protrusion is positioned within the first cavity and includes an inner surface, an outer surface and an end distal the top wall of the housing, the inner surface of the protrusion defining a second cavity, and wherein the outer surface of the protrusion and an inner surface of the essentially cylindrical sidewall define a gap therebetween, and the cap cover is dimensioned and positioned to cover at least a portion of the gap between the outer surface of the protrusion and the inner surface of the housing.
