A position input system includes a touch screen, an active stylus and a driver. The driver transmits an uplink signal to the active stylus via the touch screen in a current touch period, the uplink signal containing timing information that informs the active stylus of timing of a next touch period in which the active stylus transmits a downlink signal to the driver via the touch screen. In another embodiment, the driver transmits an uplink signal to the active stylus via the touch screen in a current touch period of a current frame at a time different from a corresponding touch period of a previous frame.

Position input system and method

An active stylus, a touch sensor, and a signal transmission and sensing method are provided. The active stylus comprises: an integrated circuit (IC) and a transmitting circuit. The IC comprises: a first modulator, a second modulator, and a mixer. The first modulator is utilized for modulating a first signal with a first frequency to generate a first frequency modulated signal. The second modulator is utilized for modulating a second signal with a second frequency to generate a second frequency modulated signal. The mixer is coupled to the first modulator and the second modulator, and utilized for mixing the first frequency modulated signal and the second frequency modulated signal to generate a mixed signal having the first frequency and the second frequency. The transmitting circuit is coupled to the IC, and utilized for transmitting the mixed signal to the touch sensor.

Active stylus, touch sensor, and signal transmission and sensing method for active stylus and touch sensor

A capacitor sensor apparatus and a sensing method thereof are provided. Oscillation signals with different frequencies are provided to a driving circuit and a mixer separately. The mixer mixes the oscillation signal with a lower frequency with a band-pass filtered signal. A band-pass filtering operation for generating the band-pass filtered signal is performed on a sensing signal before the mixer performs the mixing operation.

The touch-sensitive apparatus includes a touch sensing area, an analog-to-digital converter and a mixer. The touch sensing area has sensing pixels for receiving a touching signal to generate inducted signals. The analog-to-digital converter converts the inducted signals into digital signals. The mixer includes an in-phase multiplier, a quadrature multiplier, an in-phase summer, a quadrature summer and a Pythagorean operator. The in-phase multiplier multiplies each digital signal with a first reference signal to generate in-phase modulated signals. The quadrature multiplier multiplies each digital signal with a second reference signal to generate quadrature modulated signals. The in-phase summer respectively sums up elements of each modulated signal to generate in-phase values. The quadrature summer respectively sums up elements of each quadrature modulated signal to generate quadrature values. The Pythagorean operator performs a Pythagorean operation on each in-phase value and each quadrature value for determining a touch location information corresponding to the sensing pixels.

Electronic device with touch sensitive functionality

In a touch system, a transmitter (TX) driving unit generates at least one pair of orthogonal drive signals, each pair having a specific frequency. At least one pair of TX electrode lines is simultaneously driven by the at least one pair of orthogonal drive signals, respectively. A sense signal is induced on a receiver (RX) electrode line by capacitances disposed between the TX electrode lines and the RX electrode line. An RX detection unit detects the sense signal to simultaneously result in two sense components that respectively estimate the capacitances associated with the TX electrode lines of the pair.
