Embodiments disclosed herein provide an apparatus to enable smooth and safe assembly of functional modules to computer chassis. The apparatus includes a chassis and a pair of racks mounted to the chassis. Each rack has a plurality of gear teeth formed thereon. A module having a housing is slidably coupled to the chassis and disposed between the pair of racks. A pair of gear pinions are rotatably mounted to the housing and meshed to the gear teeth of one of the racks. A damping member is coupled between each gear pinion and the housing. A sliding movement of the housing relative to the chassis rotates the pair of gear pinions to roll over along the gear teeth. During the sliding movement of the housing, the damping member exerts a resistance force against the housing, to reduce the movement speed of the housing.

Computing system, apparatus and electrical components thereof

An apparatus comprises a memory slot mounted to a main board, an expansion slot mounted to the main board and electrically coupled to the memory slot, a backup power module receivable in the expansion slot, and a main power source electrically coupled to the expansion slot and the memory slot. During normal operation, the main power source supplies electrical power to the memory slot and charge the backup power module. In the event of power loss or main power source failure, the backup power module discharges electrical power to the memory slot.

A support apparatus for supporting a hard disk drive in a computer system to enable hard disk replacement under hot-swap operations, the apparatus comprises a rail, a primary bracket coupled to the rail, and a cage to which a hard disk drive is mountable and coupled to the primary bracket. The rail is mountable to a base element such as a main board or the chassis of a computer system. The cage is movable relative to the rail from an operating position to a first cage position, and subsequently from the first cage position toward a second cage position to provide a clearance space in front of the cage, in order to allow the hard disk drive mounted in the cage to be drawn out from the cage for replacement under hot-swap operations.

Support apparatus

An apparatus provides an extendable rail assembly including a track for securing to a rack, a first rail slidably coupled to the track, and a second rail slidably coupled to the first rail. The first rail is movable relative to the track between retracted and extended positions, wherein the first rail includes first and second rail sections coupled together by a pivot joint. The second rail is movable relative to the first rail between retracted and extended positions. Furthermore, with the first rail in the extended position and the second rail in the extended position, the pivot joint allows the second rail and the second rail section of the first rail to pivot relative to the track and the first rail section of the first rail. A pair of rail assemblies may be secured to a rack to support a member, such as a server.

A computing device includes a chassis having at least one connector configured to receive a component, and a guide coupled to the chassis. The guide includes a guide element and is selectively movable relative to the chassis to arrange the guide element at a first position which allows a first variant of the component to be connected with the at least one connector and prevents a second variant of the component to be connected thereto, and a second position which allows the second variant of the component to be connected with the at least one connector and prevents the first variant of the component to be connected thereto.
