A method and apparatus to store information on an amount of toner used. The method includes determining whether a customer replaceable unit monitor (CRUM) memory to store information on an amount of used toner is included in a cartridge of an image forming device; storing the information on the amount of used toner in a non-volatile memory of the image forming device when the CRUM memory is not included in the cartridge of the image forming device; and storing the information on the amount of used toner in the CRUM memory when the CRUM memory is included in the cartridge.

An electro-photographic image forming device that is capable of controlling a print speed and a method for controlling the same, wherein the electro-photographic image forming device has an engine mechanism including a laser scanning unit, a developing unit, a transfer roller, and a fixing unit. The electro-photographic image forming device further includes a first driving unit for driving the laser scanning unit, a second driving unit for driving the photosensitive medium, the developing unit, the transfer roller, and the fixing unit, and a controller for controlling the first and second driving units so as to have the laser scanning unit driven at a first driving speed and to have the photosensitive medium, the developing unit, the transfer roller, and the fixing unit, driven at a second driving speed in the engine mechanism when it is determined that a print mode for printing desired print data is set to a draft mode.

Electro-photographic image forming device capable of controlling print speed and control method thereof

An image formation device using an IC bus and a control method therefor. The image formation device includes a plurality of detection sensors for detecting operation states of the peripheral devices; a plurality of A/D conversion units for converting into digital signals detection result signals output from the plurality of detection sensors; a plurality of slave devices for separating and storing by detection sensor the detection result signals converted into the digital signals by the A/D conversion units, and sending the stored detection result signals according to a signal requesting detection results; and a master device for requesting to the slave devices the detection result signal from at least one detection sensor out of the plurality of detection sensors in order to verify the operation states of the peripheral devices, such that the slave devices and the master device send and receive data to and from each other through a serial bus.
