Embodiments described herein provide corrosion inhibitors that use hyperbranched polymer molecules functionalized with amino carboxylic acids, epoxides, and/or long chain fatty acids, or combinations thereof. Nitrogen atoms in such molecules can be quaternized to increase water solubility if needed. Such hyperbranched polymer corrosion inhibitors can be used in all stages of oil and gas operation.

Hyperbranched corrosion inhibitors

Compositions may include an asphaltene dispersant that is the product of a reaction between a polysaccharide having at least two sugar subunits and one or more fatty acid reagents, and a petroleum fluid produced from a subterranean formation and containing asphaltenes therein. The asphaltene dispersant may have a molecular weight of at least 4000 Da. Compositions may further include an aromatic solvent. Methods may include contacting a hydrocarbon fluid with an asphaltene dispersant dissolved in an aromatic solvent, wherein the asphaltene dispersant is the product of the reaction of a polysaccharide and one or more fatty acid reagents. Methods may also include contacting a hydrocarbon fluid with an asphaltene, wherein the asphaltene dispersant is the product of the reaction of a polysaccharide and one or more fatty acid reagents and has a molecular weight of at least 4000 Da.

Asphaltene inhibition and/or dispersion in petroleum fluids

A method of treating petroleum fluids may include adding a flow improver composition to the petroleum fluids, the flow improver composition, comprising: a solvent; and a dendrimer-based flow improver, wherein at least a portion of the surface sites of the dendrimer are chemically modified with saturated and unsaturated fatty acids.

Environmentally friendly flow improvers with improved formulation stability at low temperatures

Compositions may include those of the formula: (I) wherein R1 is an alkyl chain having a carbon number in the range of greater than 40 to 200, R2 is a multiester, R3 is hydrogen, an ion, or an alkyl chain having a carbon number in the range of 1 to 200, m is an integer selected from 0 to 4, and n is an integer selected from the range of 0 to 4, wherein the sum of m and n is 1 or greater. Compositions may include a reaction product of a polyisobutylene-substituted succinic anhydride and a hydroxy-functional dendrimer, wherein the molar ratio of polyisobutylene-substituted succinic anhydride to hydroxy-functional dendrimer is within the range of 10:1 to 30:1.

Compositions to stabilize asphaltenes in petroleum fluids

A method of performing an oilfield treatment that includes delivering to an oilfield fluid a host-guest complex, wherein the host-guest complex is formed from a solution of host molecule mixed with a guest molecule having opposing solubility from the host molecule; wherein the host molecule is present in the solution in an amount of at least 2&#xd7;10&#x2212;6 M.

Compositions may include those of the formula: (I) wherein R1 is an alkyl chain having a carbon number in the range of greater than 40 to 200, R2 is a multiester, R3 is hydrogen, an ion, or an alkyl chain having a carbon number in the range of 1 to 200, m is an integer selected from 0 to 4, and n is an integer selected from the range of 0 to 4, wherein the sum of m and n is 1 or greater. Compositions may include a reaction product of a polyisobutylene-substituted succinic anhydride and a hydroxy-functional dendrimer, wherein the molar ratio of polyisobutylene-substituted succinic anhydride to hydroxy-functional dendrimer is within the range of 10:1 to 30:1. 

This disclosure relates to winterized pour point depressant compositions for petroleum fluids. Such compositions exhibit stability and are flowable at temperatures down to as low as &#x2212;47&#xb0; C., without the need for further dilution.

Winterized pour point depressants

Methods may include admixing an additive composition with a hydrocarbon fluid, wherein the additive composition contains at least one inhibitor and at least one sub-micron particle. Additional methods may include providing an additive composition containing at least one inhibitor and at least one sub-micron particle; adding the additive composition to a fluid capable of precipitating at least one of at least of asphaltenes, wax, scale, and gas hydrates; and transporting the fluid containing the additive composition.

Methods may include emplacing into a hydrocarbon production stream a composition containing an asphaltene inhibitor, wherein the asphaltene inhibitor includes the formula: wherein R1 is an alkyl chain having a carbon number in the range of greater than 40 to 200, R2 is a multiester group, R3 is hydrogen, an ion, or an alkyl chain having a carbon number in the range of 1 to 200, m is an integer selected from 0 to 4, and n is an integer selected from the range of 0 to 4, wherein the sum of m and n is 1 or greater.

Method and process to stabilize asphaltenes in petroleum fluids

Compositions may include a wax modifier that is the product of a reaction between a polysaccharide having a number of sugar subunits in the range of 2 to 60 and one or more fatty acid reagents, and a reservoir fluid produced from a subterranean formation comprising one or more components capable of producing waxes. Methods may include contacting a hydrocarbon fluid with a wax modifier, wherein the wax modifier is the product of the reaction of a polysaccharide and one or more fatty acid reagents. Methods may also include introducing a wax modifier into a wellbore penetrating a subterranean formation, wherein the wax modifier is the product of a reaction between a polysaccharide and one or more fatty acid reagents; producing hydrocarbons from the subterranean formation; and allowing the wax modifier to inhibit the precipitation of a wax.

Wax modifier in hydrocarbon fluid and method of using the same

A wellbore fluid treatment may include a compound formed from reaction between cyclic anhydride pendant groups on a polymer backbone with at least one amino acid, neutralized with a nitrogen containing compound. Methods may include injecting such a compound into a hydrogen production stream. Other methods may include reacting polybutadiene grafted maleic anhydride with at least one amino acid to produce an intermediate; and reacting the intermediate with an amide, amine, or imidazoline having at least a C4-C24 group to produce a compound.

Asphaltene dispersant and methods of use thereof

Embodiments relate to fluid flow improvers containing a copolymer with a siloxane group incorporated thereto. The fluid flow improvers may include polymer/copolymer having the characteristic of inhibiting wax/paraffin crystalline growth, modifying wax/paraffin crystal growth, dispersing of wax/paraffin, preventing the deposition of wax/paraffin, aiding the removal of wax/paraffin or depressing of the pour point of a wax/paraffin-containing fluid. The fluid flow improvers described may be employed alone, or may be used in combination with one or more additives for improving the low temperature flowability and/or other properties and may also be employed in combination with one or more organic solvents and/or aqueous solvents.

Low temperature stability of fluid flow improvers

A number of variations may include a product including a fluid additive including at least one asphaltene dispersant/inhibitor including a branched dendritic core and at least one carboxylic acid moiety.

Fluid additive and method of making and using the same

Disclosed herein is a fluid flow improver comprising a branched dendritic core comprising a first quaternary carbon center bonded to four second carbon atoms, wherein at least three of the four second carbon atoms are individually bonded to one or more chain extender ligands to produce the branched dendritic core, wherein the branched dendritic core has greater than or equal to about 16 terminal hydroxyl groups, and wherein at least one of the terminal hydroxyl groups is esterified with at least one carboxylic acid moiety comprising from 6 to 30 carbon atoms. Hydrocarbon fluid flow improver

The present invention relates to a composition and method for inhibiting the formation of naphthenate solids in a liquid hydrocarbon. The method includes contacting a composition including a rosin amine having a formula (I): or (II): where formula (AA): represents a single or double bond; R1, R2 and R5 each independently represent H, alkyl, alkenyl or an alkynyl group each having between one and ten carbon atoms, &#x2014;(R3O)nR4 wherein R3 is an alkyl group having 1 to 3 carbon atoms and R4 is H, alkyl, alkenyl or an alkynyl group each having between one and ten carbon atoms; n is an integer between 5 and 50; X is a halide, sulphate, phosphate or acetate ion; and a demulsifier intermediate with the liquid hydrocarbon.
