In one example, a device for printing a three-dimensional object is described. The device may include at least one material application unit to deposit at least one material for a voxel of the three-dimensional object, a vertical cavity surface emitting laser array comprising a plurality of vertical cavity surface emitting lasers, the plurality of vertical cavity surface emitting lasers including a first vertical cavity surface emitting laser to operate at a first wavelength and a second vertical cavity surface emitting laser to operate at a second wavelength, and a processor to control a deposition of the at least one material for the voxel via the at least one material application unit and to control an application of electromagnetic energy via at least one of the plurality of vertical cavity surface emitting lasers to the voxel to alter at least one property of the at least one material.

According to an example, an apparatus may include a memory that may store instructions to cause a processor to generate, for each part to be fabricated in a build envelope of a 3D fabricating device, first level descriptions and second level descriptions for the part. The processor may determine, using the first level descriptions, whether there is an arrangement that results in the parts jointly fitting within the build envelope while providing certain thermal decoupling spaces between the parts. In response to a determination that the arrangement using the first level descriptions for the parts has not been determined, the processor may determine, using the second level descriptions, whether there is an arrangement that results in the parts jointly fitting within the build envelope while providing the certain thermal decoupling spaces.

In an example of a 3D printing method, build material particles are applied to form a layer. Each build material particle includes a metal core and a metal oxide outer shell. The layer is patterned by selectively applying a reactive chemical on at least a portion of the layer to initiate a redox reaction with the metal oxide outer shells of the build material particles in contact with the reactive chemical, which reduces the metal oxide outer shells of the build material particles in contact with the reactive chemical and exposes the metal cores of the build material particles in contact with the reactive chemical. The patterned layer is exposed to rapid thermal processing to sinter the exposed metal cores to form a part layer. Any intact build material particles remain unsintered.

Three-dimensional (3D) printing

According to an example, a three-dimensional (3D) printer may include a first delivery device to selectively deposit a fusing agent onto a layer of build materials and a second delivery device to deposit coolant droplets at tuned drop weights onto the layer of build materials. The 3D printer may also include a controller to control the second delivery device to selectively deposit the coolant droplets at the tuned drop weights onto selected areas of the build material layer, in which the drop weights of the selectively deposited coolant droplets are tuned to provide a thermal balance between multiple areas of the build material layer during application of fusing radiation onto the build material layer.

Systems and methods for operating based on recovered waste heat are described. In one example, the method includes receiving recovered waste heat power and operating at least one system component of a recovered waste heat based computing device based on the recovered waste heat power, where the at least one system component is coupled to a non-volatile memory of the recovered waste heat based computing device. The method further includes preserving operational states of the at least one system component in the non-volatile memory based on a current power level associated with the recovered waste heat power.

According to one example of the present invention, a cooling system is provided. The cooling system comprises a water-cooled air conditioning module for cooling air from a chamber. The chamber is arranged for receiving air to be cooled and hot humid air. The cooling system also comprises a control system for controlling the flow of hot humid air to the chamber such that the air input to the air conditioning module has a predetermined relative humidity level within a predetermined range.

Systems and methods of analyzing energy consumption using node similarity are disclosed. An example of a method may be carried out by program code stored on non-transient computer-readable medium and executed by a processor. The method includes assigning a similarity score to a plurality of nodes using at least one of: domain based rules, attribute based similarity metrics, and machine learning. The method also includes identifying a similar node from the plurality of nodes, for a node under consideration, based on the similarity score. The method also includes determining energy consumption of the node under consideration based on energy consumption of the similar node.

In a method of determining cooling resource capacity allocations for resource units in a shared environment for optimized operations, cost parameters associated with operating the resource units in at least one of delivering and receiving cooling resources are identified, one or more constraints associated with operating the resource units are identified, in which at least one of the one or more constraints comprises meeting at least a total cooling demand of components in the shared environment, a cost function that correlates the plurality of identified cost parameters is developed, a minimized cost function is solved for through application of a Lagrange multiplier subject to the identified one or more constraints, and cooling resource capacity allocations for the resource units that result in optimized operations in the shared environment based upon the minimized cost function solution are determined.

A device for reducing temperature variation in a plenum includes at least one pipe and a plurality of sumps containing a fluid operable to vary between a liquid state and a gaseous state depending upon a temperature of the fluid. The plurality of sumps are positioned at various locations within the plenum and the at least one pipe is in fluid communication with the plurality of sumps. In addition, the fluid, in the gaseous state, is caused to move through the at least one pipe and condense, thereby reducing the temperature at the location of the sump where the fluid was vaporized and thereby reducing temperature variation in the plenum.

A computing apparatus is configured to operate under multiple operational policies. In a method for controlling the computing apparatus, a plurality of sensors are correlated with a plurality of actuators. An operational policy of the multiple operational policies is selected to implement and input from the plurality of sensors is received. The inputs are analyzed to identify at least one of the plurality of actuators to be manipulated based upon the correlation and the selected operational policy to implement. In addition, at least one of the identified plurality of actuators is manipulated based upon the selected operational policy.
