A control method of an electronic device, an electronic device, and a control method of an electronic device that performs encoding are provided. The control method of the electronic device includes obtaining a video, determining a part corresponding to a user gaze on a first frame in the first frame of the video, determining a decoding-target part, which includes the part corresponding to the user gaze on the first frame and has a size greater than or equal to the part corresponding to the user gaze on the first frame, decoding the decoding-target part, and displaying an image of the part corresponding to the user gaze on the first frame among the decoding-target part.

Electronic device for encoding or decoding frames of video and method for controlling thereof

According to an embodiment of the present disclosure, an electronic device may comprise a memory and a processor configured to produce compressed data by compressing data including a first block and a second block stored in the memory, wherein the processor may be configured to include a first replacement data table corresponding to first sub-data in the compressed data, the first sub-data included in the first block, and the first replacement data table produced based on, at least, rankings of first frequencies for the first sub-data, and include information for reference to the first replacement data table, corresponding to the second block, when second sub-data included in the second block and rankings of second frequencies for the second sub-data meet a designated condition with respect to the first sub-data included in the first block and the rankings of the first frequencies. Other embodiments are also possible.

Electronic device for compressing data and method for operating the same

An apparatus for and a method of transcoding data in a first format, for example, MPEG (moving picture experts group)-2 data into data in a second format, for example, H.264 data. The apparatus may include a scaling dequantization unit, a coefficient transform unit, and/or a scaling quantization unit. The scaling dequantization unit may dequantize the data in the first format (e.g., MPEG-2 data) to generate a DCT (discrete cosine transform) coefficient. The coefficient transform unit may approximate a 4x4 second data format (e.g., H.264) integer transform matrix to a 4x4 DCT matrix and transforms the DCT coefficient into an integer transform coefficient using the approximated 4x4 DCT matrix. The scaling quantization unit may quantize the integer transform coefficient to generate the data in the second format (e.g., H.264 data).

Apparatus for and method of transcoding data

A method for resizing an image using a resizing ratio may include receiving DCT (Discrete Cosine Transform) coefficients of an input image; calculating a transformation matrix for transforming the input image to an integer aspect ratio closest to the resizing ratio; performing a coarse resizing on the input image in a DCT domain using the transformation matrix; obtaining a spatial image by performing an IDCT (Inverse Discrete Cosine Transform) on the coarse-resized domain; and forming an output image by performing a fine resizing on the spatial image in a spatial domain.
