In a PDP, an inductor is coupled to an electrode of a panel capacitor. A current of a first direction is injected to the inductor to store energy, and the voltage of the electrode is changed to V/2 using a resonance between the inductor and the panel capacitor and the stored energy. The difference between the Y electrode voltage V/2 and the X electrode voltage &#x2212;V/2 causes a sustain on the panel. Subsequently, a current of a second direction, which is opposite to the first direction, is injected to the inductor to store energy therein. The voltage of the electrode is changed to &#x2212;V/2 using a resonance between the inductor and the panel capacitor and the energy stored therein.

Apparatus and method for driving plasma display panel

A plasma display device that diversifies heat dissipating paths of integrated circuit modules in a circuit board assembly, thereby enhancing heat dissipation of the integrated circuit modules. The plasma display device includes a plasma display panel, a chassis base on which the plasma display panel is attached and supported, integrated circuit modules that are mounted on the circuit board assembly on an opposite side of the chassis base to the plasma display panel, and heat sinks, each being attached to one side of each of the integrated circuit modules to dissipate heat therefrom. The heat sink is formed such that one end thereof extends to come in contact with the chassis base.

Plasma display device

Disclosed is a PDP driving circuit and a driving method thereof. A first switch is coupled between a Y electrode of a panel capacitor and a positive polarity terminal of a voltage source supplying a voltage Vs/2, a second switch is coupled between the positive polarity terminal of the voltage source and ground, a third switch is coupled between the Y electrode and a negative polarity of the voltage source, and a fourth switch is coupled between the negative polarity of the voltage source and ground. The voltage &#x2212;Vs/2 is applied to an X electrode of the panel capacitor while the voltage Vs/2 is applied to the Y electrode thereof, and the voltage Vs/2 is applied to the X electrode while the voltage &#x2212;Vs/2 is applied to the Y electrode.

Device and method for driving plasma display panel

In a PDP driver, first and second signal lines for a voltage of Vs and third and fourth signal lines for a voltage of 0V are formed. While maintaining Y and X electrodes of the panel capacitor at Vs and 0V, a first current path is formed from the first signal line to the fourth signal line through an inductor to supply a first-directional current to the inductor. A second current path is formed from the Y electrode to the X electrode through the inductor to change the Y and X electrode voltages using the resonance. When the electrode voltages become 0V and Vs, a third current path is formed from the third signal line to the second signal line through the inductor to reduce the first-directional current.

A method for driving a plasma display panel, by alternately applying a first voltage and a second voltage to a panel capacitor formed between a first electrode and a second electrode. A first switch and a second switch coupled between a first terminal of the panel capacitor and a first power source for supplying the first voltage are turned off. A second voltage is applied to the first terminal of the panel capacitor. A first electric path between a contact of the first switch and the second switch, and a third voltage is formed. The third voltage being a voltage between the first voltage and the second voltage, where a first capacitor formed between both terminals of the first switch has a lower capacitance than a second capacitor formed between both terminals of the second switch.
