A compound connector that comprises two types of I/O connectors, one of which I/O connectors may be a smart connector for use with an external electronic system. The compound connector has a first storage space for receiving a first type of I/O electronic package which includes contacts positioned on its edge. The compound connector has a second storage space for receiving a second type of I/O electronic package which includes contacts positioned on one of its major surfaces.

Disclosed is a smart card connector for transmitting signals between a smart card and an external electronic system, wherein the smart card has contacts on one of two major surfaces thereof, the connector comprising: guiding structure defining a storage space having a first end and an opposed second end, through which second end, the smart card may be inserted, and contact terminals in the storage space for connecting with the contacts of the smart card to be inserted in the storage space; and an ejecting mechanism provided on the guiding structure and being operable to eject the smart card from the storage space. Further disclosed is a compound connector that comprises two types of I/O connectors, one of which I/O connectors may be a smart connector for use with an external electronic system.

A card connector includes a base plate with an accommodating groove, a card-ejecting device, and a retainer for retaining the card-ejecting device on the baseplate. The accommodating groove has an open front end and a closed rear end, and is adapted to receive a card therein. The card has a front end extending from the front end of the groove, and a rear end that is spaced apart from the rear end of the groove at a small distance. When the front end of the card is pressed inwardly to move the rear end of the card to the rear end of the groove, and is subsequently released, the card-ejecting device pushes the card outwardly relative to the connector. Accordingly, the card can be ejected with ease.

A card connector for electrically coupling a PC card to an electrical device is provided. The card connector comprises a header section having a plurality of terminal pins disposed within the header section. A first and second elongated arm section are integrally coupled with the header section. Each one of the arms extend from a first end to a second end thereby forming a slot which is adapted to receive the PC card and guide the PC card into electrical contact with the terminal pins. A guide housing is securely disposed over said first arm. A push-rod is slidably mounted within the guide housing and adapted to move from a first position to a second position. A post is disposed within the guide housing. A swing arm is pivotally mounted on the push-rod and is adapted to engage and disengage with the post as the push-rod moves from the first position to the second position. A first spring is in communication with said swing arm. A second spring is biasingly disposed of within the guide housing in communication with the first spring. A rod is slidably mounted within the guide housing in communication with the push-rod. A link is movably coupled with the header in movable communication with the rod. The link is adapted to engage the PC card. The push-rod protrudes away from the first arm at the first position and is relatively flush with the first arm at the second position.
