The separator according to the present disclosure and the electrochemical device including the same show low internal resistance between the separator and an electrode. The separator includes heat resistant particles in a heat resistant coating layer. The heat resistant particles include a particle-shaped inorganic material and fluorine (F) doped to a surface of the inorganic particles. When the internal temperature of a battery is increased during the operation of the battery, the separator shows improved heat resistance by virtue of an endothermic effect derived from a phase change of the heat resistant particles. In addition, decomposition of a lithium salt used as an ingredient of electrolyte is inhibited by the fluorine atoms introduced to the heat resistant particles, resulting in improvement of ion conductivity and resistance characteristics. Further, the separator including the heat resistant particles introduced thereto has excellent resistance characteristics and shows high oxidation stability of an electrolyte, resulting in improvement of the electrochemical stability of a battery.

Separator having heat resistant layer for electrochemical device and secondary battery comprising same

A separator for an electrochemical device. The separator includes a porous substrate made of a porous polymer film having an excellent compressibility and permanent strain. The porous substrate has excellent physical strength and durability, and ensures a high breakdown voltage while using a heat resistant layer having a small thickness, and thus shows a low possibility of short-circuit generation. In addition, the separator may further include a heat resistant layer including inorganic particles, on the surface of the porous substrate. It is possible to further improve the compressibility, maximum compressibility and permanent strain characteristics depending on the types of inorganic particles.

A separator is provided which includes: a separator base including a porous polymer substrate having a plurality of pores, and a porous coating layer positioned on at least one surface of the porous polymer substrate and containing a plurality of inorganic particles and a binder polymer positioned on the whole or a part of the surface of the inorganic particles to connect the inorganic particles with one another and fix them; and a porous adhesive layer positioned on at least one surface of the separator base and including polyvinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene containing vinylidene fluoride-derived repeating units and hexafluoropropylene-derived repeating units, wherein the ratio of the number of the hexafluoropropylene (HFP)-derived repeating units (HFP substitution ratio) based on the total number of the vinylidene fluoride-derived repeating units and the hexafluoropropylene-derived repeating units is 4.5% to 9%. An electrochemical device including the separator is also provided.

Disclosed is an electrode assembly including two electrodes having polarities opposite to each other, and a separator interposed between the two electrodes, wherein the separator includes: a separator base which includes a porous polymer substrate having a plurality of pores, and a porous coating layer; and an adhesive layer formed on at least one surface of the separator base, provided to face either of the electrodes and containing an adhesive resin, and wherein the adhesion (Peel Strength) between the porous polymer substrate and the porous coating layer and the adhesion (Lami Strength) between the adhesive layer and the electrode satisfy Mathematical Formula 1. An electrochemical device including the separator is also disclosed. In the electrode assembly, the separator shows increased resistance against scratching and the adhesion between the separator and the electrode can be improved.

The present disclosure relates to a separator for an electrochemical device. The separator includes a porous coating layer containing inorganic particles on the surface of a porous polymer substrate, wherein the porous coating layer includes plate-like inorganic particles and spherical inorganic particles as inorganic particles, and shows a step-wise or successive increase in content of inorganic particles a) from the bottom close to the porous polymer substrate to the top, when viewed from the thickness direction of the porous coating layer, and shows a step-wise or successive decrease in content of inorganic particles b) from the bottom close to the porous polymer substrate to the top, when viewed from the thickness direction of the porous coating layer.

Separator for electrochemical device and electrochemical device including the same

Disclosed are a separator and an electrochemical device including the same. The separator includes: a porous polymer substrate having a plurality of pores; a separator base including a porous coating layer formed on at least one surface of the porous polymer substrate, and including a plurality of inorganic particles and a binder polymer disposed partially or totally on the surface of the inorganic particles to connect and fix the inorganic particles with each other; and an adhesive porous layer formed on at least one surface of the separator base and including an adhesive resin which shows adhesive property through heating at a temperature lower than the melting point of the porous polymer substrate, wherein the adhesive porous layer is provided with a porous structure formed by phase separation caused by the evaporation rate of a solvent and that of a non-solvent, when applying and drying a coating composition including the adhesive resin, the solvent and the non-solvent on at least one surface of the separator base.
