A method of measuring the relative position of a bone implant within a bone in a patient to detect movement between the implant and bone is provided, wherein one or more radiopaque bone markers have been implanted into the bone through a cannulated implant within the bone and one or more radiopaque implant markers have been implanted into the implant. The method comprises: i) determining a first relative position of the bone marker to the implant marker under a first parameter; and ii) determining a second relative position of the bone marker to the implant marker under a second parameter, wherein a change in the position of the bone marker relative to the implant marker from the first relative position to the second relative position is indicative of movement of either the implant or the bone.

Method of detecting movement between an implant and a bone

The invention comprises a modified implant useful to assess bone by imaging. The modified implant comprises a medical implant and at least one detectable marker element associated with the implant that serves as a reference point in medical imaging. Preferably, the implant and the detector marker elements have different radiolucencies such that one element can be seen through the other in medical imaging.

Device and method for bone imaging

The invention relates to a device for providing skeletal support. A bone support device comprising an upright rod having a proximal and a distal end; at least one support member located near the proximal end for securing the rod to the bone; at least one distal anchoring element; and a vent member is provided.

A bone fixation device includes an intramedullary pin having a longitudinal axis, a proximal end, and a distal tip configured and dimensioned for insertion into a medullary canal of a bone and a bone plate disposed at the proximal end of the intramedullary pin, wherein the bone plate includes an angled tab configured and dimensioned to have a center of gravity lying on a radius of a cross-sectional area of the intramedullary pin taken orthogonally to the intramedullary pin's longitudinal axis.

Device for bone fixation

A device for bone fixation includes an intramedullary pin and a bone plate. The intramedullary pin has a longitudinal axis with a distal tip configured for insertion into the medullary canal. The intramedullary pin also has at least one transverse borehole passing through it for accommodating a hip screw. The bone plate is disposed at the proximal rear end of the intramedullary pin and lies in contact with the greater trochanter.
