An aircraft comprising a pair of ducted thrusters. Each of the ducted thrusters comprises a duct surrounding a rotor assembly with a rotor hub having a plurality of rotor blades extending therefrom, wherein the plurality of rotor blades have a modulated angular distribution about a central longitudinal axis of the duct. Each of the ducted thrusters further comprises a stator assembly having a stator hub with a plurality of stator vanes extending from the stator hub to an interior surface of the duct, wherein each of the plurality of the stator vanes are angularly modulated around the stator hub such that angular spacing between pairs of adjacent vanes of the plurality of stator vanes varies for each pair of the adjacent vanes.

Ducted thrusters

A standpipe assembly for a rotorcraft includes a slip ring positioned within the mast of the rotorcraft. The slip ring includes a stator rotationally connected to a rotor. A flexible coupling is connected to the stator and a standpipe tube is connected to the flexible coupling. The flexible coupling is capable of angular, axial, and torsional displacement.

A rotary system including a grip having an opening forming a first bridge for receiving a centrifugal force bearing that faces inwardly towards the rotor mast. A rotor blade couples to the grip and a pitch horn positioned outside the opening pitches the rotor blade during flight. A bearing assembly attaches the first bridge to the yoke and controls blade forces exerted against the hub assembly during flight.

A bearing assembly comprises a bearing, a shim disposed within the bearing, and a component disposed within the shim. The shim comprises a first material, the component comprises a second material, and the first material has an elastic modulus value that is lower than an elastic modulus value of the second material. An apparatus comprises an elastomeric bearing, a fiberglass shim, and a steel spindle that is connected to the elastomeric bearing through the shim. A method for reducing strain in an adhesive layer that connects a bearing to a component comprises selecting a shim material having an elastic modulus value that is less than an elastic modulus value of the component and providing instructions to connect the component to the shim by placing the adhesive layer between an outer surface of the component and an inner surface of the shim.

According to one embodiment, a rotor system comprises a yoke, a grip, an elastomeric bearing, and a bearing restraint. The grip is positioned around a portion of the yoke and has both a closed end and an open end. The elastomeric bearing is coupled to the closed end of the grip and located between the closed end and the yoke. The bearing restraint is coupled to the grip between the yoke and the open end at a distance from the closed end such that the yoke contacts the bearing restraint when the rotor system is subject to a first centrifugal force but does not contact the bearing restraint when the rotor system is subject to a second centrifugal force greater than the first centrifugal force.
