A thermoplastic elastomer stopper that meets the desired material properties of a stopper for a syringe assembly is disclosed. The compression set of the thermoplastic elastomer stopper of the present disclosure is &#x2264;50% when measured at 25% compression for 22 hrs at 70 degree C. The hardness of the thermoplastic elastomer stopper of the present disclosure is 40-70 Shore A. The viscosity of a thermoplastic elastomer stopper of the present disclosure is &#x2265;70 Pa&#xb7;s at 1,000 sshear rate, &#x2265;12.0 Pa&#xb7;s at 10,000 sshear rate, and &#x2265;3.0 Pa&#xb7;s at 50,000 sshear rate when measured using a capillary rheometer at 205 degree C. (Die: Roundhole 20 mm length/1 mm diameter/180 degree inlet, Piston: d=15 mm, and melting time=7 min). The present non-lubricated stopper exhibits the required functional performance of a lubricated stopper.

Leak-free stopper having low breakloose and sustaining forces

A stackable packaging unit comprises a molded tray including one or more compartments and a female feature. Additionally, the stackable packaging unit includes a cover attached to the molded tray and configured to cover at least a portion of at least one of the compartment(s) of the molded tray. The cover is made of folded paperboard or cardboard and includes a handle extending upward. The handle of the cover provides a male feature that is configured to fit within the female feature of a further one of the stackable packaging units that's stacked above the stackable packaging unit. The molded tray can be made of molded pulp, in which case the molded tray and the paperboard or cardboard from which the cover is made can both be recyclable. The molded tray and the paperboard or cardboard from which the cover is made can additionally or alternatively include postconsumer recycled material.

A hanging safety harness rack having a plurality of latches for holding individual safety harnesses. Each latch includes an individual locking feature which locks its safety harness in place. Also included is a shared locking feature that preventing all latches from opening and thus locking all safety harnesses in place.

A syringe assembly having passive disabling structure includes a barrel and a plunger rod assembly. The plunger rod assembly includes a plunger rod and a stopper connected by an indexing locking element. The number of strokes of the syringe plunger before the stopper is locked into the barrel rendering the syringe assembly unusable is determined by the number of detents on the plunger rod and stopper which engage the locking mechanism. Upon completion of the final delivery stroke, any attempt to withdraw the plunger rod from the barrel will cause the locking element to engage the barrel and trap the stopper in the barrel preventing further use of the syringe.

Syringe assembly having disabling mechanism

A fluid transfer adapter for use with a syringe barrel having a collar with adapter engaging structure and a distally-facing frusto-conically shaped surface is disclosed. The adapter includes a hub having a proximally-facing frusto-conically shaped surface for mating with the frusto-conically shaped surface on the barrel, structure for threadably engaging the hub to the collar of the barrel so that the frusto-conically shaped surface of the hub contacts the frusto-conically shaped surface of the barrel to prevent liquid flow between the surfaces and a fluid transfer having a passageway therethrough, connected to the distal end of the hub so that the lumen is in fluid communication with a conduit in the hub. The passageway includes a frusto-conically shaped edge that aligns with the frusto-conically shaped edge of the barrel, when the adapter is connected to the barrel, thereby reducing waste space.

Attachment for a medical device

A hypodermic syringe assembly is provided with a syringe barrel and a safety shield telescoped over the syringe barrel and movable from a proximal position to a distal position. The safety shield is irreversibly lockable in the distal position on the syringe barrel to protectively shield a used needle cannula. The safety shield is releasably retained in a proximal position by engagement of a protrusion on the barrel and a groove on the shield. Engagement between the protrusion and the stop block can be overcome by rotating the safety shield. The safety shield may then be moved into an irreversible shielding position surrounding the needle cannula. The releasable retention of the safety shield in its proximal position prevents inadvertent distal movement of the safety shield.
