An adaptation system adapts a web page, which is developed to be displayed by a web browser, to be displayed by client-side code of an application. When a web server receives a request for a web page, it determines whether the request was sent from a client device executing client-side code or from a non-client device executing a browser. If the request is from a client, then the web server uses the adaptation system to adapt the web page to the environment of the application. The adaptation system may modify the web page so that the menus of the web page are not displayed when the web page is displayed within a window of the application. The adaptation system may also modify links of the content of the web page to reference forms of the application, rather than other web pages.

Adaptation of display pages for client environments

Concepts and technologies are described herein for creating variations when transforming data into consumable content. In accordance with the concepts and technologies disclosed herein, a computing device can execute a transformation engine for transforming data into the consumable content. The computing device can be configured to analyze the data to identify relationships among data elements or other portions of the data, and to identify any possible approaches to transforming the data ('worlds') based upon the relationships and the data. The worlds can be ranked and selected based upon rank. The computing device can obtain rules associated with the selected and apply the rules to the data to generate the output. In some embodiments, the computing device can be configured to obtain and apply feedback regarding the world selection.

Creating variations when transforming data into consumable content

A user interface (UI) property mapping system allows for efficient collaboration between a user experience (UX) team and a technical development team developing the UI. The UI mapping system assigns each component of the UI an identification key and exposes the identification key externally through an XML Schema, wherein such an XML Schema may be used by a UX team to generate an XML file specifying values of various properties of the UI. Subsequently, a UI object model reads the XML file to retrieve the values of various properties of the UI as specified by the UX team. The UI property mapping system may encode the XML file into a resource file that may be shipped with the final software using the UI. Alternatively, the XML file may be exposed for external modifications by end users to make changes to the UI as they desire.

The claimed method and system provides programmers of client-server applications the ability to implement extensions to a standard style sheet language by using a preprocessor at a client to first parse, extract, and transform noncompliant, proprietary code. A new standards compliant style sheet may be created based on the transformed noncompliant code. This style sheet may then be executed on a client browser. The claimed system may be used to conform a client application schema with a client operating system schema.
