The magazine is configured for holding and dispensing initiation devices or initiation device components having respective non-contact readable identification (ID) codes. The magazine includes one or more initiation device tracking unit(s) configured for reading the non-contact codes of the initiation devices or initiation device components for tracking the initiation devices or the initiation device components.

Disclosed is a magazine apparatus including a first magazine and a second magazine. The first magazine is configured for holding, carrying and dispensing first initiation device components. The second magazine is configured for holding, carrying and dispensing second initiation device components. The first magazine and the second magazine are configured to dispense the first initiation device components and the second initiation device components in a corresponding manner such that a dispensed one of the first initiation device components and a correspondingly dispensed one of the second initiation device components can be assembled together to form a structurally complete, unified initiation device for loading into a borehole.

Automated apparatus for storing, transporting, dispensing, and assembling wireless initiation devices configurable for initiating explosive material compositions

An explosive device configured for outputting a quasi-planar shock wave includes: a body structure having a proximal end and an opposing distal end, and within which (a) an initiation device chamber; (b) a donor charge having a geometric shape correlated with first cone having an internal void exhibiting a geometric shape correlated with a second cone, wherein a first base of the first cone and a second base of the second cone reside in a common plane and have a common center point; (c) a non-explosive wave shaper filling the void; and (d) an acceptor charge are sequentially disposed adjacent to each other in a direction toward the distal end. Perpendicular to the central axis, a maximum lateral span of each of the wave shaper, the donor charge, and the acceptor charge coincide. The acceptor explosive charge mass does not laterally extend to a set of body structure outer walls.
