An alarm system includes a first pressure sensor, a second pressure sensor, and one or more processors. The first pressure sensor can detect a first pressure of a fluid supply of a dry pipe sprinkler system. The second pressure sensor can detect a second pressure of gas in at least one pipe of the dry pipe sprinkler system. The one or more processors can receive the first pressure from the first pressure sensor and the second pressure from the second pressure sensor, determine a target minimum pressure based on the first pressure, compare the target minimum pressure to the second pressure, and output an indication of an alarm condition based on the comparison.

Systems and methods of dynamic low air alarms for differential type fire protection valves

A temperature monitoring apparatus includes a temperature sensor and a control circuit. The temperature sensor detects a temperature of a piping system, such as a temperature of water in the piping system. The control circuit includes one or more processors and a memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the control circuit to determine whether water in the piping system is expected to freeze based on the indication of the temperature, predict whether a valve tripping event is expected to occur based on determining that the water in the piping system is expected to freeze, and in response to predicting that the valve tripping event is expected to occur, provide a prediction that the valve tripping event is expected to occur for remedial action.

Systems and methods of monitoring temperature in a fire suppression system

Fire protection systems and methods for ceiling-only high-piled storage protection. The systems include a plurality of fluid distribution devices disposed beneath a ceiling and above a high-piled storage commodity having a nominal storage height ranging from a nominal 20 ft. to a maximum nominal storage height of 55 ft. and means for quenching a fire in the storage commodity. The stored commodity to be protected may include exposed expanded plastics. The fluid distribution devices include a frame body having an inlet, an outlet, a sealing assembly, and an electronically operated releasing mechanism supporting the sealing assembly in the outlet.

Controlled system and methods for storage fire protection

A system to mitigate false trips of a valve that supplies water to a piping system in a fire suppression system includes at least one edge device, a control circuit, and at least one user device. The at least one edge device monitors a parameter corresponding to at least one of a corrosion, a presence of water, a differential pressure across the valve, and a temperature in the piping system of the fire suppression system. The control circuit includes one or more processors and a memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the control circuit to receive an indication of the parameter monitored by the at least one edge device, predict whether a valve tripping event is expected to occur based on the received indication, and in response to predicting that the valve tripping event is expected to occur, provide the prediction that the valve tripping event can occur for remedial action. The at least one user device presents display data regarding the prediction.

System and method for monitoring and controlling a fire suppression system

A differential pressure monitoring system includes a differential pressure monitoring device and at least one client device. The differential pressure monitoring device includes a water pressure sensor that detects a water pressure at an inlet of the dry pipe valve, a valve air pressure sensor that detects an air pressure at an outlet of the dry pipe valve, and a control circuit that computes a ratio of the water pressure and the air pressure, predicts whether a valve tripping event is expected to occur based on the computed ratio, and in response to predicting that the valve tripping event is expected to occur, provides a prediction that the valve tripping event is expected to occur for remedial action. The system includes at least one client device that receives the prediction from the control circuit and presents display data regarding the prediction.

System and method for monitoring differential pressure across a dry pipe valve in a fire suppression system

A water detection apparatus includes a continuity probe, a voltage source that provides a reference voltage, and a control circuit. The control circuit provides the reference voltage to the continuity probe, measures a feedback signal corresponding to the reference voltage at a predetermined location of the fire suppression system, computes a continuity between the continuity probe and the predetermined location based on the feedback signal and the reference voltage, determines whether water is present in a low point of the piping system based on the computed continuity, and predicts whether a valve tripping event is expected to occur based on whether water is present in the low point to provide a detection signal for remedial action to mitigate false trips of the valve based on detecting the water in the low point.

System and method for low point monitoring in a fire suppression system

Systems and methods to measure fluid delivery times in a piping system and more particularly a dry pipe fire protection system. A device is provided that includes at least a solenoid valve for coupling to a network of pipes of a dry pipe sprinkler system and a liquid detector for coupling to the network of pipes to detect a flow of water in the network. A timer is coupled to the solenoid valve. Upon operation of the solenoid valve, the timer simultaneously initiates a start time of a fluid detection test. The timer is preferably coupled to the liquid detector such that upon the detector detecting water, the timer defines a stop time of the fluid detection test.

Fire protection mist nozzles for industrial oil cookers, oil cookers with fire protection systems, and method of oil cooker fire protection are provided. The mist nozzles operate at pressures between 170 and 250 psi, and provide a unique distribution pattern that allows for variable installations for protection in certain operative environments including oil cookers with various hood configurations. The fire protection nozzles includes a base defining an inlet and an outlet along an axis. The base includes an orifice having an inlet diameter and an outlet diameter. The outlet diameter is preferably greater than the inlet diameter; and the orifice defines a K-factor of less than 1.0 gpm/psi&#xbd;. The nozzle includes a diffuser aligned with the orifice. The diffuser has a preferably substantially domed portion with a maximum diameter that is less than the summation of the inlet diameter and the outlet diameter of the orifice.
