Suspending fibers within a substantially similar direction within flow field allows for an even dispersion of fibers in a manufactured composite. The flow field can be established within a resin tank so as to control orientation of the fibers. An advantage of this approach is that fiber orientation can be changed layer by layer during printing. No matter where the reinforcements need to be, the fibers can be aligned on the fly to accommodate. 3D prints can made stronger for a very wide range of objects and opportunities.

Additive manufacturing composites with flow induced fiber alignment

In some exemplary embodiments, an ankle replacement prosthesis includes a tibial component which provides a convex bearing surface, and a talar component which provides a concave bearing surface configured to interface with the convex bearing surface of the tibial component to provide a joint of the ankle replacement prosthesis. The tibial component is configured to be attached to a patient's tibia and the talar component is configured to be attached to the patient's talus.

Ankle replacement apparatus and method

A biodegradable soil sensor, a biodegradable soil sensing system and method for obtaining soil information is provided. The biodegradable sensor may include one or more electrically conductive bioinert traces and a biodegradable substrate having a printed circuit of the one or more electrically conductive bioinert traces. A biodegradable antenna may be formed by at least one of the one or more electrically conductive bioinert traces. A sensor may be connected to the one or more electrically conductive bioinert traces. The sensor may also include a biodegradable encapsulation layer housing the biodegradable substrate and the electrically conductive bioinert traces.

Biodegradable soil sensor, system and method

A composite diving board which has a sandwich structure of an upper and lower composite laminate surrounding a central core. The laminates comprise a fibrous material comprising fibers of carbon, graphite, aramid, oriented high molecular weight polyethylene, oriented high molecular weight polypropylene, and/or boron. The core has a decrease in thickness along the longitudinal axis of the board from a fulcrum region toward the tip end of the board.
