A method for coupling a first tubular component including a threaded portion with a second tubular component including a threaded portion, which includes: engaging the first tubular component on the second tubular component; rotating the first tubular component relative to the second tubular component in order to screw the threaded portions together; obtaining a set of points constituting a curve that represents the torque applied during the screwing of the first tubular component until an end position as a function of the number of turns performed by the first tubular component relative to the second tubular component; comparing parameters of the curve obtained with one or more reference curve(s) of a database in which each reference curve is associated with an assessment of the quality of the coupling; and assessing the quality of the coupling according to the step of comparing the curve.

Method for assessing the quality of the coupling of two tubular components

A female component for a tubular hydrocarbon working string subjected to dynamic bending strength includes a tapered female threading cooperating with a male threading to form a rigid mutual connection of tubular elements, a free end and female sealing surface disposed between the free end and the female threading, the female sealing surface to contact in a made up condition with a male sealing surface to form a metal-metal seal, and an annular groove provided between the free end and the female sealing surface, leaving an axial distance greater than zero between the free end and a transition region outwardly of the female sealing surface, and a radial distance greater than zero between the female sealing surface and a chamfer at the free end, the groove including borders formed by the chamfer and a portion of the transition region protecting the female sealing surface prior to makeup.

Threaded connection and process for obtaining it

A male threaded joint tipped with a male lip having a male seating face and a male stop transverse surface proximate to the male seating face. A female threaded element includes for co-operation with the corresponding male threaded element, a female seating face and a female stop transverse surface provided on a female shoulder and proximate to the female seating face. The annular female shoulder zone is subjected to axial compression forces resulting from the pressure of the male and female stop surfaces and has an inner peripheral surface, the diameter of which is at least locally proximate to the female stop surface smaller than the diameter of the inner peripheral surface of the male lip. The ratio R of the two diameters is less than 1 but not less than 0.9.
