In an ad hoc wireless network, nodes determine contextual locations based at least in part on measured ranges to a plurality of fixed nodes having predetermined locations. When the contextual locations contains at least one error, the contextual locations are updated based at least in part on measured ranges between pairs of nodes in the ad hoc wireless network.

Device identification via peer exchange

A mobile ad hoc network communication system is disclosed with a medium access control (MAC) protocol that combines features of contention and reservation to provide a hybrid MAC protocol. Gaining initial access to a channel is achieved using random access, such as a carrier sense multiple access (CSMA) type protocol, in which contention for a channel occurs among users only over available (non-reserved) channels. Once communication between nodes is established over an available channel, the channel is reserved by indicating its use in packet headers, and other users do not attempt transmission over the channel until it is released. Communication on reserved channels does not require backoff or delay, creating a virtual pipe that improves throughput and delay over standard multiple-access protocols.

Hybrid mac protocol, based on contention and reservation, for mobile ad hoc networks with multiple transceivers

A system is provided for unified data networking across a plurality of heterogeneous networks different ones of which include a source network node and a querying network node. The system may receive a data packet having a payload and a tag that includes a unified identity code (UIC) for a category of information. Content of the payload may be stored in a cache memory based at least in part on the UIC. In at least one instance, a query including the UIC may be received from the querying network node, and the system may retrieve the content from the cache memory based on the UIC. The system may then generate and transmit, to the querying network node, a reply data packet having a payload with the content and a tag that includes the UIC.

Unified data networking across heterogeneous networks

A mobile communications device allows communication in an ad hoc wireless network. The mobile communications device transmits, on a first radio frequency (RF) channel of the wireless network, a first signal by at least a first radio of the wireless device, the first signal encoded using at least a first modem of the wireless device. The mobile communications device concurrently transmits or receives, on an RF second channel of the wireless network, a second signal by at least a second radio of the wireless device, the second signal encoded or decoded using at least a second modem of the wireless device.

Methods and systems for allocating resources in a wireless network are described. In one implementation, a wireless network is utilized by at least a first radio and a second radio. The wireless network includes at least a first channel and a second channel. The first channel is partitioned into control slots and data slots and the second channel is partitioned into at least data slots. The method includes transmitting, using the first radio, in a first control slot of the first channel, a first control signal comprising information for data slot negotiation. The method additionally includes concurrently transmitting or receiving, using the first radio, at least one of a first data signal or a second control signal on the second channel.

Methods and systems for allocating resources in a wireless network

A wireless communications system comprising a wireless communications unit. The wireless communications unit comprises a communications device, a back-end router, a cryptographic module connected to the back-end router, and a front-end router connected to the cryptographic module and the communications device. The communications device is configured to exchange information over a single wireless communications channel. The front-end router is configured to perform at least one of sending a first data packet received at the front-end router from the communications device to the back-end router through the cryptographic module and sending a second data packet received at the front-end router from the back-end router through the cryptographic module to the communications device.

Ad-Hoc radio communications system

A system and methods for secure communication are disclosed. A network packet comprising encrypted network address comprising an unencrypted network address encrypted by a first GPS time and a first pseudo random number is received. The encrypted network address is decrypted using the first GPS time and the first pseudo random number to provide the unencrypted network address. The network packet is transmitted based on the unencrypted network address.
