New dichroic dyes having a composition with slave materials. The dyes may be used for a dichroic polymer network, a dichroic liquid crystalline polymer film (LCP film) or a dichroic liquid crystalline polymer gel, which for instance find application as electro-optical or optical devices.

Concentrated storage stable aqueous solutions (S) comprising components (a), (b) and (c), wherein component (a) is at least one optical brightening agent of formula (1), in which the anionic charge on the brightener is balanced by a cationic charge composed of one or more cations selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkali metal cation, alkaline earth metal cation, ammonium, ammonium which is mono-, di- or trisubstituted by a Clinear or branched alkyl radical and ammonium which is mono-, di- or trisubstituted by a Clinear or branched hydroxyalkyl radical, and the concentration of component (a) is 0.08 to 0.3 mol per kg, based on the total weight of the concentrated storage-stable aqueous solutions (S), component (b) is at least one inorganic salt (SA), in a concentration of 2 to 15% by weight, based on the total weight of the concentrated storage-stable aqueous solutions (S), and component (c) is water, in a concentration of 10% to 88% by weight, based on the total weight of the concentrated storage-stable aqueous solutions (S).

This invention pertains to light emitting materials comprising novel ortho-metalated transition metal complexes [C^N]M(T)(L), comprising chelate dialkylamino-substituted C^N ligands, monodentate neutral ligand (L) having sphybridized N atom and a monodentate anionic ligand (T) chosen among CN, CNO, CNS. It has been surprisingly found that when the metal has bound thereto in addition to substituted orthometalated ligands, both an anion chosen among cyanide, thiocyanate, cyanate, possessing strong C donor and &#x3c0; acceptor properties, and a monodentate neutral ligand L, as above defined, said ligands advantageously participate in the emission process, significantly shifting emission towards higher energies (blue-shift) and enabling appreciable improvement of the emission efficiency of complexes [C^N]M(T)(L). Still objects of the invention are the use of said light emitting materials and organic light emitting device comprising said light emitting material.

Light-emitting material

This invention pertains to light emitting materials comprising novel ortho-metalated transition metal complexes [C^N]ML comprising two orthometalated ligands having imidazole moieties and an ancillary ligand of &#x3b2;-diketonate type. The ortho-metalated transition metal complexes are represented by formula (I): It has been surprisingly found that when the metal has bound thereto both orthometalated ligands comprising imidazole moieties and an ancillary ligand of &#x3b2;-diketonate type, the ligands advantageously participate in the emission process, significantly broadening emission in the visible region and enabling appreciable improvement of the white emission efficiency of complexes [C^N]ML. Additional objects of the invention are the use of the light emitting materials and organic light emitting device comprising the light emitting material.
