The vehicle drum brake comprises a plate, at least one segment comprising a core and a brake lining, a spring able to keep the core of the segment in an axially balanced position, means for prestressing the spring wherein said means for prestressing the spring include stop means limiting the ability of the core of the segment to move axially.

A motor vehicle drum brake () includes: two braking segments (A,B); an anchoring element () including two bearing surfaces (A,B) of two second ends () of the braking segments (A,B); a wheel cylinder () which, in a first 'simplex' operating mode, is suitable for transversally separating the adjacent first ends () of the segments (A,B); the anchoring element () including: a fixed body () wherein two sliding pistons (A,B) each carry a bearing surface (A,B); and elements () for separating the pistons (A,B) between an anchoring position wherein they abut against the body (), and a sliding position wherein the pistons (A,B) are separated to allow the sliding thereof during operation in so-called 'servo-dual' mode.
