A coating composition, a process for producing it and substrate coated therewith are described. The composition comprises a multimodal ethylene polymer, which contains from 80 to 99.8% by weight of ethylene repeating units and from 0.2 to 20% by weight of C-C&#x3b1;-olefin repeating units, and is a blend of at least a first and a second ethylene polymer prepared by polymerization in the presence of a single site catalyst system. The blend has a density of 0.915-0.955 g/cm, a melt flow rate, MFR, of 0.028-1.5 g/10 min., a molecular weight distribution, M/M, of 3-10, and a CTL 5.0 MPa-value according to ISO 6259 of at least 500 hrs.

Polyolefin coated steel pipes with high dynamic fracture toughness of the coating of the steel pipes during installation handling and in service, consisting of a steel pipe core, optionally an intermediate foamed plastic material, and a polyolefin coating of &#x3b2;-nucleated propylene copolymers whereby a test polyolefin pipe fabricated from the &#x3b2;-nucleated propylene copolymer has a critical pressure of &#x3e;25 bars and a dynamic fracture toughness &#x3e;3.5 MNm. The polyolefin coated steel pipes are suitable for off-shore transport of crude oil or gas products or district heating applications.

Process for producing single layer and multilayer polyolefin foam pipes with improved compression resistance having a polyolefin foam layer which consists of mixtures of modified propylene polymers having strain hardening behaviour or propylene homopolymers with a stereospecificity index &#x3e;98% or propylene copolymers with a stereospecificity index of the homopolymer matrix of &#x3e;96%. The polyolefin foam pipes include coated steel pipes for transporting crude oil or gas products or district heating applications, single layer pipes for insulation purposes and for non- or low-pressure applications and multilayer plastic pipes for the transportation of hot or cold fluids.

A road restraint system part is made of polyolefin material having an energy absorption of at least 10 kJ/m2 at +23&#xb0; C. and at least 5 kJ/m2 at &#x2212;20&#xb0; C. (determined according to ISO 179/1eA with notched specimens).

The invention relates to a syntactic polyolefin composition for pipe coating, wherein the composition comprises a &#x3b2;-nucleated propylene polymer and microspheres. The invention also relates to a method for the preparation of the composition for pipe coating and to an off-shore pipe coated with the syntactic polyolefin composition.
