Systems and methods are disclosed herein that relate to Quality of Experience (QoE) measurement configuration and reporting in a cellular communications system during mobility. In one embodiment, a method performed by a User Equipment (UE) comprises receiving a QoE measurement configuration and a measurement duration time associated to the QoE measurement configuration, starting to perform QoE measurements in accordance with the QoE measurement configuration, starting a measurement duration timer upon starting to perform the QoE measurements, the measurement duration timer being initialized to the measurement duration time associated to the QoE measurement configuration, and continuing to perform the QoE measurements while the measurement duration timer is running. Embodiments related to the method of operation of a RAN node are also disclosed.

Configuration of QoE measurements and associated measurement duration time supporting mobility

Embodiments include methods for a user equipment (UE), particularly for performing quality of experience (QoE) measurements configured by a wireless network. Such methods include receiving, from a radio access network node (RNN) in the wireless network, a request for QoE measurement reports that are available at the UE and that are associated with one or more services provided by the UE application layer. Such methods also include sending one or more QoE measurement reports to the RNN in accordance with the request. Other embodiments include complementary methods for a RNN, as well as UEs and RNNs configured to perform such methods.

Enhanced network control over quality-of-experience (QoE) measurement reports by user equipment

Embodiments include methods for a UE to perform mobility operations in a wireless network based on conditions related to data traffic. Such methods include receiving, from a network node, one or more conditional reconfigurations. Each includes a reconfiguration message associated with a candidate target cell and one or more execution conditions that need to be fulfilled to apply the reconfiguration message when performing a mobility operation, including at least one first execution condition related to UE data traffic and/or to one or more UE applications. Such methods include monitoring for the execution conditions in the conditional reconfigurations and based on detecting fulfillment of one or more execution conditions in a particular conditional measurement configuration, performing a mobility operation towards the candidate target cell associated with the reconfiguration message in the particular conditional measurement configuration. Other embodiments include complementary methods by a network node, as well as UEs and network nodes

Conditional reconfiguration based on data traffic

Systems and methods are disclosed herein for handling Conditional Primary Secondary Cell (PSCell) Change (CPC) upon Secondary Node (SN) release. In one embodiment, a method performed by a Master Node (MN) for SN release for a User Equipment (UE) that is operating in Multi-Radio Dual Connectivity (MR-DC) and configured with CPC comprises determining that a SN for a UE that is operating in MR-DC and configured with CPC is to be released. The method further comprises, responsive to determining that the SN for the UE that is operating in MR-DC and configured with CPC is to be released, sending a first message to a target SN (T-SN) associated with a CPC configuration for the UE, the first message being indicative of a CPC cancellation, and sending a second message to the UE, the second message comprising an explicit or implicit indication that the UE is to release the CPC configuration.

Handling conditional PSCell change (CPC) upon SN release

Systems and methods are disclosed herein for Quality of Experience (QoE) measurements handling at overload in a Radio Access Network (RAN) of a cellular communications system. In one embodiment, a method performed by a first RAN node for handling QoE measurement configuration and/or reporting during RAN overload comprises performing one or more actions related to one or more aspects of QoE measurement configuration, QoE measurement reporting, or both QoE measurement configuration and QoE measurement reporting that mitigate an RAN overload condition. In one embodiment, performing the one or more actions comprises performing one or more actions related to transfer of one or more aspects of QoE measurement configuration from the first RAN node to a second RAN node, transfer of one or more aspects of QoE measurement reporting from the first RAN node to the second RAN node, or both.

QoE measurement handling at overload in RAN

A method () performed by a T-SN for cancelling a conditional PSCell, change (CPC). The method includes the T-SN receiving (s) a request for a CPC configuration for a UE, wherein the request was transmitted by a first network node (NN), and the UE is connected to the first NN and is also connected to a second NN. The method also includes the T-SM transmitting (s) to the first NN a response to the request, the response including the CPC configuration for the UE. The method further includes, after transmitting the response, the T-SN transmitting (s) to the first NN a cancellation indication indicating that the CPC configuration for the UE is cancelled.

Target secondary node initiated cancel of conditional PSCell change

A UE method includes receiving an RRC reconfiguration message, RRCReconfiguration, from a master node. The RRCReconfiguration message includes a secondary cell group, SCG, measurement configuration comprising a configuration of at least one measurement identifier referred in an execution condition for a conditional primary secondary cell, PSCell, change, CPC. The SCG measurement configuration is included within another RRC reconfiguration message, RRCReconfiguration***, to be applied by the UE upon reception; and at least one conditional reconfiguration for CPC, the conditional reconfiguration comprising for a target candidate cell of a candidate target-secondary node: the SCG configuration; and the execution condition for CPC, where the UE is to apply the SCG configuration upon fulfillment of the execution condition for CPC. The UE applies the reconfiguration message and the SCG measurement configuration, within the RRCReconfiguration*** message. The UE monitors the fulfillment of the execution conditions for the target candidate cell.

SN-initiated conditional PSCell change (CPC) with SN change

Embodiments include methods for a first radio network node (RNN) in a wireless network to configure quality of experience (QoE) measurements by user equipment (UEs). Such methods include receiving, from a measurement function in the wireless network, a QoE measurement configuration (QMC associated with one or more service types; and configuring one or more UEs with the QMC. Such methods also include sending to a second RNN in the wireless network, a first request for handover of a particular one of the UEs from a first cell served by the first RNN via a first radio access technology (RAT) to a second cell served by the second RNN via a second RAT. The first request includes the QMC. Other embodiments include complementary methods performed by a second RNN or by a UE, as well as first RNNs, second RNNs, and UEs configured to perform such methods.

Quality-of-experience (QoE) measurements it inter-radio access technology (IRAT) handover

Embodiments include methods, performed by a user equipment, UE, for reporting failures related to mobility operations by the UE to a network node in a radio access network, RAN. Such methods include logging () information associated with a plurality of failures during conditional handover, CHO, operations related to a source cell and one or more first target cells. Such methods also include, after a successful mobility operation to a second target cell served by the network node, reporting () the logged information, associated with the plurality of failures, to the network node. Other embodiments include complementary methods performed by a network node, as well as UEs and network nodes configured to perform such methods.

Reporting failures of conditional handover mobility operations

Methods and apparatuses are disclosed for conditional handover in handover command. In one embodiment, a wireless device (WD) is configured to receive a request to perform a mobility procedure for a wireless device from a source cell supported by a source network node to a target cell supported by the network node, the request including a current configuration for the wireless device in the source cell; upon receiving the request, determine to prepare a conditional reconfiguration for the wireless device; and transmit the conditional reconfiguration and a radio resource control, RRC, reconfiguration for the wireless device, the RRC reconfiguration being associated with the requested mobility procedure from the source cell to the target cell supported by the network node and the conditional reconfiguration being associated with a target candidate cell determined by the network node.

Conditional handover in handover command

Methods for communicating a Quality of Experience (QoE) measurement are provided. In embodiments disclosed herein, a wireless device communicates the QoE measurement to a base station based on Radio Resource Control (RRC) segmentation. In this regard, the wireless device receives an indication that indicates whether the base station can support the RRC segmentation. Accordingly, the wireless device transmits the QoE measurement to the base station based on the RRC segmentation if the indication indicates that the base station can support the RRC segmentation. By transmitting the QoE measurement based on the RRC segmentation, the wireless device can communicate more QoE information to the base station in a larger QoE measurement file (e.g., 8000 kilobytes).

A method performed by a wireless device () comprises receiving (), from a master node (A) for multi-connectivity operation, a configuration message () which includes a master configuration () and one or more conditional PSCell configurations (). The method also comprises transmitting () a first message () in response to the configuration message (). The first message () indicates acknowledgement of receipt, applying of, and/or understanding of the master configuration (). A technique for Quality of Experience (QoE) or Application Layer (AL) measurements at high load is described. As to one method aspect of the technique for reporting QoE measurements from a radio device () wirelessly connected or connectable to a radio access network, RAN (), the method () comprises or initiates a step of receiving () a stop control message () from or through the RAN () at the radio device (), the stop control message () being indicative of a command for storing () results of the QoE or AL measurements at the radio device () and stopping () the radio device () from reporting () the stored results of the QoE or AL measurements to or through the RAN.

Technique for reporting quality of experience (QoE)—and application layer (AL) measurements at high load

A wireless device () is configured to receive, from a radio network node, a message () that includes a condition monitoring configuration () and a conditional mobility configuration (). The condition monitoring configuration () configures the wireless device () to monitor a condition. The wireless device () is to apply the conditional mobility configuration () when the wireless device () detects fulfillment of the condition. The wireless device () is configured to process the condition monitoring configuration () upon receiving the message (), and to process the conditional mobility configuration () subject to a processing precondition being met.

Conditional mobility in a wireless communication network

According to an aspect, a source node determines () that a UE served by the source node is a candidate for conditional handover configuration. The source node sends (), to a target node for conditional handover of the UE, a conditional handover request that includes one or more parameters indicative of a likelihood that handover of the UE to the target node will be executed. The target node receives () the request and parameters and allocates () resources for the UE, taking into account the likelihood that handover of the first UE to the target node will be executed. The target node sends () handover configuration information for the first UE to the source node, in response to the conditional handover request.
