In the interest of a particularly quick and simple X-ray examination, provision is made for a method for automatically positioning a positionable X-ray source () of an X-ray system () in respect of a mobile X-ray detector () with the following steps: &#x2014;detecting the position of the mobile X-ray detector (), &#x2014;forwarding the position to the X-ray system (), &#x2014;determining a position of the X-ray source (), aligned with the position of the mobile X-ray detector (), for recording an X-ray image, and &#x2014;driving the positionable X-ray source () to move into the aligned position.

In a method for planning an examination of an examination subject in a magnetic resonance system, the planning of the examination ensues based on a composite overview image that is composed of at least two individual images. A first part of the overview image is acquired and the first part of the overview image is made available to operating personnel of the magnetic resonance system for planning further measurements. A second part of the overview image is acquired and the first part and the second part of the overview image are combined. The combined image of the first part and second part of the overview image is made available for planning further measurements. The first part of the overview image is made available to operating personnel no later than before making the overview image available.

In a method for implementation of a magnetic resonance examination of a patient with an imaging medical magnetic resonance apparatus with a movable patient bed, for of an examination volume of the patient that is larger than an acquisition volume of the magnetic resonance apparatus, anatomical patient information and second technical information for setting the magnetic resonance apparatus are acquired dependent on the position of the patient bed from magnetic resonance signals acquired in a low-resolution calibration measurement (scan). A first group of measurement protocol parameters is generated from the patient information and a second group of measurement protocol parameters is generated from the technical information, to generate a measurement protocol for a subsequent high-resolution magnetic resonance examination.
