The invention relates to a system comprising a coder that has an alternation of North and South magnetic poles separated by transitions extending along a helix of pitch p and of angle &#x3b1;, the magnetic track having Npairs of North and South poles and a polar width Lmeasured along a normal to the transitions which are: N=&#x3c0;a/l and L=p&#xb7;cos &#x3b1;. The invention also includes at least one sensor able to detect the rotating magnetic field in a plane perpendicular to the magnetic track and to the transitions by means of a mounting of at least two sensitive magnetic elements. The mounting being disposed at a radial reading distance from the magnetic track and being arranged to deliver signals in quadrature.

The invention also includes a sensor able to detect the period magnetic field emitted by the coder by means of at least two sensitive magnetic elements which are disposed at a radial reading distance from the magnetic track. The sensitive elements are disposed in relation to one another to deliver signals in quadrature.

The invention relates to a system having a coder with a magnetic track that exhibits an alternation of North and South magnetic poles separated by i Archimedean spiral transitions. The invention also includes a rotation sensor able to detect the periodic magnetic field emitted by the coder using several sensitive elements, the sensitive elements being distributed angularly along the magnetic track while forming between at least two sensitive elements an angle &#x3b1; which is designed so that the signals delivered by the elements are in quadrature.
