A tethering screw system includes a bone screw, a fastening member, and a securing member. The bone screw includes a threaded shank and a head portion. The head portion includes inner walls defining a slot and a recess distal of the slot. The fastening member is received in the recess of the head portion of the bone screw. The securing member has an engaging portion and a set screw rotatably coupled with the engaging portion. The engaging portion is configured to secure the fastening member in the recess of the head portion. The set screw is configured to threadably engage the inner walls of the head portion of bone screw, wherein when the set screw threadably engages the inner walls of the head portion of the bone screw, the engaging portion advances relative to the fastening member to secure the fastening member in the recess of the head portion.

Tethering screw system

A surgical instrument includes a body, a securement arm, a clamp lock, and a tensioning assembly. The body defines a longitudinal axis and has proximal and distal portions. The distal portion defines a recess. The securement arm is coupled to the body and translatable along the body in a direction parallel to the longitudinal axis between first and second position. The clamp lock is pivotally coupled to the distal portion of the body. The clamp lock is pivotable between secured and unsecured configurations. The tensioning assembly translatable in a direction parallel to the longitudinal axis between proximal and distal position. The tensioning assembly configured to draw a flexible band to tension the flexible band about a bony element.

Inserter and method for securing an implant to a spinal process with a flexible fastening system

Devices, systems and methods for minimally open orthopedic spine surgery are disclosed. A first flexible screw-based retractor is designed to be coupled to each pedicle screw inserted into adjacent vertebral bodies. A retractor system is provided in which a first retractor blade is mounted to one of the screws and a second movable retractor blade is moved away from the first blade, in a medial direction, to create a working channel through which the disc space may be accessed for passing instruments and implants. Light may be incorporated into the device to illuminate the surgical field. One or all of the retractor blades may be made of a sterilizable plastic or metal and be disposable or reusable.

Minimally open interbody access retraction device and surgical method

The present disclosure provides a transverse connector having first and second spinal rod connecting members disposed on opposing ends of a cross member. Each spinal rod connecting member is configured to connect to a spinal rod. The first and second spinal rod connecting members are configured for multidirectional articulation relative to the cross member.

Transverse connector

An insertion tool for inserting a spinal rod into a patient is provided. The insertion tool includes an upper body portion defining a first longitudinal axis, a handle assembly extending from the upper body portion, an elbow member connected to a distal end of the body portion, a lower body portion defining a second longitudinal axis, and a drive mechanism extending between the handle assembly and the lower body portion for controlling the selective engagement of the spinal rod. The lower body portion extends from the elbow and is configured to selectively engage a spinal rod.
