The present invention relates to a novel agent for promoting adhesion to a heat-insulating surface and in particular to a polystyrene surface, especially when wet or under the effect of a large variation in temperature. The invention also relates to the use of the said agent in a water-insoluble film-forming polymer composition or in a mineral binder composition for applications in the construction field and more particularly in external heat-insulation systems.

The invention concerns a composition based on zirconium and cerium oxides in an atomic ratio Zr/Ce&#x3e;1, and further comprising lanthanum oxide or an oxide of a rare earth other than cerium and lanthanum. The invention is characterized in that after calcination for 6 hours at 1150 .C it has a specific surface area of not less than 10 m;/g. The composition is obtained by forming a mixture containing a sol of a zirconium compound and cerium, lanthanum, said rare earth compounds, contacting said mixture with a basic compound solution, while heating and calcining the resulting precipitate. The composition can be used as catalyst.

Composition based on zirconium oxide and oxides of cerium, lanthanum and of another rare earth, a method for preparing same and use thereof as catalyst

The invention concerns a process for preparing an oxide based on zirconium and titanium in which a liquid medium containing a zirconium compound and a titanium compound is formed; said medium is then heated; the precipitate obtained from the end of the preceding step is recovered and optionally, said precipitate is calcined. The invention also concerns an oxide based on zirconium and titanium. Said oxide can comprise in the range 30% to 40% by weight of titanium oxide and in this case it has a pure ZrTiOtype structure or a mixture of phases of structure type ZrTiOand structure type anatase. Said oxide can also comprise in the range 10% to 20% by weight of titanium oxide and it then has a specific surface area of at least 40 m/g after calcining for 5 hours at 800&#xb0; C.

Purifying composition with NOx treatment and internal combustion engine exhaust gases

The invention relates to a process for the treatment of gases with high oxygen content, with a view to controlling nitrogen oxide emissions, characterized in that use is made of a catalytic composition comprising manganese oxide and at least one oxide chosen from cerium oxide and zirconium oxide. This composition may furthermore comprise at least one other element chosen from those in groups VIII, IB, IVB and VB. The process of the invention applies in particular to the treatment of exhaust gases of internal-combustion engines, more particularly diesel engines or lean-burn engines.

The present invention relates to a process for treating gases to reduce emissions of oxides of nitrogen. This process is of the type in which a catalytic composition is used which comprises a catalytic phase on a support and is characterized in that the support is based on silica and titanium oxide in an atomic proportion Ti/Ti&plus;Si of between 0.1 and 15%. The process of the invention applies more particularly to the treatment of the exhaust gases from diesel engines or from lean burn engines.

The invention relates to compositions of the NOx trap type. According to a first embodiment, the composition comprises a supported phase containing manganese and at least one other element selected from terbium, gadolinium, europium, samarium, neodymium and praseodymium and a support based on cerium oxide or a mixture of cerium oxide and zirconium oxide. According to a second embodiment, the composition comprises a supported phase and a support of the same type as for the first embodiment, and is characterized in that the manganese and the potassium are supplied by potassium permanganate. According to another embodiment, the composition consists essentially of manganese and of cerium oxide. These compositions can be used in a gas treatment process with a view to reducing nitrogen oxide emissions.

The product can be prepared by forming a mixture which comprises a titanium salt, sol or suspension, a compound of element M, and a cerium compound and then by drying and calcining the mixture, thus formed, according to a second variant, the compound is prepared by bringing together a cerium compound and a titanium compound in a liquid medium; by adding a base to the mixture thus obtained, whereby a precipitate is obtained; by bringing together a compound of element M and the precipitate thus obtained; by drying and then calcining the mixture obtained.
